The U.S. Navy said three sailors on board the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Philippine Sea have tested positive for the coronavirus.

The report marks the first incident of the virus aboard a U.S. warship, according to Fox News.

U.S. officials said the affected sailors have been placed in quarantine and will be flown from the ship Tuesday.

The ship holds a crew of 5,000 sailors as well as dozens of fighter jets and other types of aircraft.

A Navy official said they would proceed as usual following the removal of the sailors who tested positive, saying, "You have to continue the mission."

In the 60s Navy I was in on sea duty, the enlisted were worked hard 18hrs a day to get every drop of Uncle Sam's energy out of you, day after day after day.

Now there is nothing wrong with doing hard work to keep the Teddy Roosevelt Birdfarm floating and battle ready, but you do work a long day with only maybe 4-5 hours of off-watch sleep. If fatigue is a factor, we'll know real soon if those 3 Sailors passed on the virus.

I thing they're still trying to figure out how viruses spread so uncontrollably on cruise liners - air circulation, common surfaces like handrails, etc.

You must go back quite a ways to have scrubbed off that dust from nuclear testing.

I do remember practicing climbing under our desks in school in the 50s and the Civil Defense alerts.
