New York's case count is doubling every three days, the governor says.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who last week adopted a friendly tone toward Mr. Trump, got as close as he has to chastising the federal government, which has so far sent 400 ventilators to New York City.
You want a pat on the back for sending 400 ventilators, Mr. Cuomo said. What are we going to do with 400 ventilators when we need 30,000 ventilators? Youre missing the magnitude of the problem, and the problem is defined by the magnitude.
...
Mr. Cuomo, speaking at the Javits Center in Manhattan, which the Army Corps is retrofitting into a 1,000-bed emergency hospital, said the rate of new coronavirus infections in New York is doubling about every three days.
We havent flattened the curve, he said. And the curve is actually increasing. The governor, appearing in front of piles of medical supplies, spoke in a far more sober tone and delivered notably bleaker news than he has in previous days.
The peak of infection in New York could come as soon as two to three weeks, far earlier than previously anticipated, Mr. Cuomo said, which would put even bigger strain on the health care system than officials had feared.
The apex is higher than we thought and the apex is sooner than we thought, Mr. Cuomo said. That is a bad combination of facts.
The governor said the state now projects that it may need as many as 140,000 hospital beds to house virus patients, up from the 110,000 projected a few days ago. As of now, only 53,000 are available. Up to 40,000 intensive-care beds could be needed. Those are troubling and astronomical numbers, he said.

Those are troubling and astronomical numbers
They truly are.
And Trump decided to send only 400 of the 20,000 stockpiled ventilators to the epicenter of the pandemic in the country!
This is criminal.

How incredibly stupid is Trump?
Gov. Cuomo of NY said it best today, you send the resources to where they are needed since not every city/state will be impacted at the same time. When NY is over the peak in a few weeks, you reallocate those ventilators to where they are needed next.
For the record, I don't live in New York State or even the NYC metro area, so I am not special pleading here, I am just asking for common sense from Trump to save lives.

(3,131 posts)19.5 million people live in New York state
US population is 327 million.
Divvy the 20,000 ventilators by population and new york would get 1192 to New York
Factor in the explosion of cases and New York and other hot spots should get more. Particularly if the plan is to get ventilators built before other areas blow up.
Ha! Who am I kidding using the word plan.
This evil mfer is withholding ventilators to screw new yorkers.
This will get very ugly when the victims families begin to think of blame.

(8,820 posts)On the Smithsonian channel about the 1918 epidemic. It was produced a couple of years ago.
It was frightening and included a segment how the President at the time, intentionally mentioned nothing about it for a year......Sound Familiar?
I'm surprised it aired on TV.........As a side note did you know that during the run-up to, and during the IRAQ war, The largest group of public radio stations, across the United States banned Any and All of the 1960's anti war songs from being played on their radio stations.?????
