U.S. insisting that the U.N. call out Chinese origins of coronavirus

Source: NBC News

By Josh Lederman

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is pushing the U.N. Security Council to call attention to the Chinese origins of the coronavirus, four diplomats posted to the United Nations told NBC News, triggering a stalemate as the global body seeks to cobble together a response to the pandemic.

Talks among U.N. Security Council nations over a joint declaration or resolution on the coronavirus have stalled over U.S. insistence that it explicitly state that the virus originated in Wuhan, China, as well as exactly when it started there. China's diplomats are enraged according to the diplomats, even as they seek to put their own language into the statement praising China's efforts to contain the virus.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly blamed China for its spread, accusing Beijing of concealing early knowledge of the virus. But after reports of a rise in racism and attacks against Asian Americans emerged, Trump tweeted this week that it was "NOT their fault" and said he'd no longer call it the "Chinese virus." dispute at the United Nations comes amid growing finger-pointing between Washington and Beijing over the coronavirus.

With the "it was brought to Wuhan by the US Army."

One must have a firm grasp of effectality, how effect is self-responsible for a posteriori causes. ("Causality" and cause and effect have been replaced.)

13. It was the Hubei province administration, not the central government that covered up.

It was the Hubei administration that reprepremanded (not jailed) Dr Li Wenliang. The central government was relatively prompt. They let WHO know on December 31. Released the full genome on January 9. The CDC knew the relevant details on January 6.

And one of the doctors that first discovered it "disappeared".

The American left already loves Kremlin propaganda. Let's not get into the CCP's as well.

Edit: I'm not saying we should call it the "China Virus" or anything. But the CCP's attempts to cover it up led to the virus exploding in the first place.

Found on The Guardian UK's rolling coverage page during the night:

The G7 group of wealthy nation has blocked a US attempt to use the phrase “Wuhan virus” in joint statement, according to CNN.

“What the State Department has suggested is a red line,” a European diplomat said. “You cannot agree with this branding of this virus and trying to communicate this.” The proposed draft statement by the United States also blamed China for the pandemic’s spread, the diplomat told CNN.

Although the World Health Organization officially has dubbed the illness Covid-19 or coronavirus, a 12-paragraph draft statement circulated by the US among the G7 ministers referred to it as the “Wuhan virus.”

Because the US holds the presidency for the international coalition -- which also includes the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada -- it was responsible for penning the draft joint statement. As a result, several of the member nations released their own statements following the foreign ministers’ meeting, which was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, the leaders of the G20 major economies will hold an emergency video-conference summit to discuss the coronavirus pandemic, but hopes of a coordinated global response remain low.
