The personnel clash is the latest example of the acting director, career official Matthew Albence, falling afoul of Trump campaign veterans.

The acting chief of Immigration and Customs Enforcement is resisting a White House effort to install a number of political appointees at the agency he helms, according to three current and former U.S. officials who described the situation to POLITICO.
The battle comes as the powerful head of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, John McEntee, pushes hard to place Trump allies in key positions throughout the government. McEntee, a 29-year-old former campaign staffer who has the presidents ear, is turning his focus to immigration as the 2020 election approaches. But the effort has faced resistance from Matthew Albence, a career law enforcement officer and ICEs acting director.
According to the officials, the White House has spent about two months vetting a short list of candidates for open positions at ICE. The personnel office assembled the list which included potential candidates for chief of staff and Office of Policy director and then, in consultation with the top two DHS officials, Chad Wolf and Ken Cuccinelli, brought the names of the candidates to ICE.
But Albence resisted the White House push. The effort has now slowed, according to one senior administration official, and its unclear if or when the people on the list will
jobs at ICE.

Hey, since when did these facts ever stop Trumpy's apparatchiks from installing snitch acolytes in key jobs?
Answer: never!
I wanted to add that it definitely appears Trumpy is reduced to throwing spaghetti at the wall now. Expect to see rafts of bad picks like these attempts, extreme legislation in the form of easily repealed Executive Orders (by new President Biden) and other moves designed solely to "own the libs". He must know by now his re-election chance are quite slim. Therefore, he'll move every lever of government to pull up his numbers, the GOP, elderly, women and more be damned.
In this effort, like every other endeavor he's attempted, he will fail and badly. That you can take to the bank!

Birds of a feather design their administrations the same way.

(10,106 posts)If Trump thinks he is losing, he will deliberately undermine the government to make the next presidents job harder so he can then complain about everything that is not being done. No one can expect Trump to lose and then go away gracefully. He will become the biggest loud-mouth complainer imaginable and will most likely start his own conspiracy news channel to compete with Fox, probably hiring Hannity as his first star.
