Indianapolis chief: No bodycam video of 2 police shootings

Source: AP

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis’ police chief said Thursday that none of the officers involved in the fatal police shootings of two men killed hours apart in separate incidents were equipped with body cameras.

Events surrounding the first shooting were livestreamed on Facebook, leading to protests Wednesday and Thursday.

Chief Randal Taylor of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department also said there was no dash camera video of either the Wednesday evening shooting or one hours later early Thursday.

Taylor promised during a news conference that the department would conduct thorough, transparent investigations into both shootings, as well as a Wednesday traffic crash in which an Indianapolis police officer struck and killed a pregnant woman who was walking on an expressway ramp. He acknowledged that the “tragic” incidents had shaken the public’s trust.

body cameras. The body cameras were important in convicting the police officers who shot people. It isn't a question of if departments can purchase, it is a question if the departments wants to purchase body cameras.....

Warning.....this is an actual body cam video of a shooting..(combination dashcam and wearing on body)...WARNING: NOT EASY TO WATCH...but available to see on the internet.. I found this at link below, but I do not know if this video convicted or supported an officer who shoots.. I also do not know how serious the shooting was.

and then I move on. There was a video on DU a year or so ago, where you see the cop shooting someone, and the video was captured by a passer by. It is so clear and precise that the guy was running away & the cop deliberately shot him. The cop clearly took aim at the runner and got him.
Awful. I am sure someone can find that, but I don't want to see it again.

necessary in all such cases...Just goggle ...cameras of police shootings...

You will find a whole lot of videos of police shootings. The Indianapolis Police Chief should be fired for his stupidity and incompetence. It is no mistake that there were no cameras, if most other police forces have them.
