White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany holds up a donation check signed by Donald Trump for $100,000 made out to the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health complete with bank account details.
Oops. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Friday inadvertently revealed President Donald Trumps banking details to a massive audience as she showed off a check he had written.
Trumps bank account and routing number were visible on the paperwork McEnany displayed to the media at a press briefing, The New York Times noticed.
The information could typically be exploited to hack into an account. But the presidents account would likely have high-level protections to ward off theft.
The $100,000 check signed by Trump and written on a Capital One account, which looked like the real thing, had bank details attached. It was made out to the Department of Health and Human Services to help support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain and combat the coronavirus, McEnany explained at the press conference.

"written on a Capital One account"
BTW $100,000 is a lot less then the $130,000,000 he has cost America for his golfing.

The White House likes pointing out that Trump donates his salary to worthy government purposes. But this time it displayed his actual check, including the account and routing numbers. @anniekarni

The $100,000 check was made out to a government agency. This time his account and routing numbers were clearly visible.

WASHINGTON Its a feel-good story that President Trumps press secretaries have relished over the years: the quarterly announcement of which government agency Mr. Trump has selected to be the lucky recipient of his salary, an easy way to show the president sticking to his 2016 campaign pledge to forgo his $400,000 salary and donate it.
In the past, the $100,000 check from Mr. Trump has been made out to the Small Business Administration initiative to help veteran entrepreneurs, to the Office of the Surgeon General to fight the opioid epidemic, and to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, among other places.
But on Friday, Kayleigh McEnany, the White House press secretary, did not just reveal that the president was sending his salary to the Department of Health and Human Services to help support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain and combat the coronavirus.
She also displayed the presidents private bank account and routing numbers.
The $100,000 check she held up like a prop appeared to be a real check from Capital One, complete with the relevant details. An administration official said mock checks were never used in the briefing.

(17,912 posts)Even if it's real, he's throwing a pittance at the colossal fuck up he created. +40 million Americans are out of work. Nearly 100K Americans are dead, and growing every single day. $100K is going to make that all better? Um, no. You can't take that back with a check. And the money is really just giving back to the government a small portion of what he's grifted from taxpayers since taking office.
Oh...the bank info....well, hire a bubble headed bleach blond and that's exactly what you get.

(15,536 posts)I thought he was a billionaire? (Actually, I never thought that but he said that.) Oprah just gave something like $12 million. Others have given in the millions. Even if this is real, he probably stole it from the taxpayers first and then makes a big show of it. How crass.

(17,912 posts)I guess $100K was all Donnie could afford.
That's $1 for every dead American....no, it's now $0.97 for every dead American..... now its $0.85 for every dead American.

(17,912 posts)but there's zero evidence he's donating anything. And even if he is, he's grifting vastly more from the federal coffers. I've given up trying to explain things like that to people as dumb as fence posts. At this point, I'm running so low on empathy I just say fuck them. Catch a deadly disease, die and rid the rest of us of their worthless existence.

(9,139 posts)it just goes into the Treasury, per CNN.

So, despite all this grandstanding about helping to "combat the coronavirus", that money (if it actually makes it into the Treasury) could just as easily go toward a one-percenter's tax cut or toward a twelve hundredths of a percent of a new F-35.

(12,809 posts)AFAIK, Congress has to allocate additional funding to that agency. Maybe Trump then did this personal check thingy as a way of taking credit?
Or maybe it's related to some Executive Order? But still, funding would come from the Treasury, not from Trump's personal checking account. Smells like a stunt to me.
