KARE 11 Investigates: Records show arrests so far are mostly in-state
Source: KARE-TV
MINNEAPOLIS In casting blame on those responsible for the worst damage from the riots, local and state leaders attributed it to people not from Minnesota.
But publicly available data does not support those claims, KARE 11 Investigates has found.
I think our best estimate of what we heard are about 20 percent are Minnesotans, and 80 percent are outside, Gov. Tim Walz said during a Saturday morning press conference.
I want to be very, very clear, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said during the press conference. The people that are doing this are not Minneapolis residents. They are coming in largely from outside of this city, outside of the region, to prey on everything we have built over the last several decades.

The data merely says they are from the state

(2,565 posts)I think the numbers of out-of-state were higher in St. Paul.
However, it's been hours since I heard that and I've been glued to the news since then, so I'd recommend checking on that at this point.
I didn't even know about Boogaloo Bois or Rent A Crowd until this afternoon! Learning a lot today.

(45,427 posts)There is plenty of racism in the suburbs and rural areas outside the twin cities.
Most of the racist cops live far away from the neighborhoods they patrol. We may have different outcomes if police lived in the neighborhoods they "serve and protect".

(5,770 posts)That does not seem probable. What evidence is there for that?

Sure, it could be anarchists. Or both.
The fact that it happened in many cities across America makes it seem like it was organized and planned. Racist groups do that online and have long posted plans for a racial civil war. I would hope federal and international law enforcement would monitor deep web activity to investigate who is behind it.

(5,770 posts)If so, how many? From where? As near as I can tell, the claims that this is the case have yet to be substantiated.

(45,427 posts)Many of the protest leaders have pleaded with the bad guys to stop smashing windows and setting fires. It's not the protestors doing it. It's someone else taking advantage of the situation.

(31,893 posts)The data, taken from the Hennepin County Jails roster, shows that nearly all of the people arrested in likely connection to the riots live in Minneapolis or the metro area. The five cases from outside Minnesota were of people listed as living in Missouri, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan and Illinois.
To be sure, the data is not conclusive and is a small sample size. KARE 11 looked only at the arrests from May 29 to May 30 that were made available on the jail roster as of 11 a.m. Saturday. The records do not say specifically whether a person arrested was connected to the riots and arson. And many of those responsible for the worst destruction escaped apprehension.
Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder said Saturday afternoon that he believes some of the people arrested have given false addresses.
My bold & underline.

(31,893 posts)They have all talked about the arsonists and disrupters getting organized on the Dark Web and arriving in groups specifically to create chaos and destruction.
I'm a born and bred Minnesotan, grew up in St. Paul, lived in Minneapolis for 20+ years, and now live in a small town about a 100 miles north - this is personal.

(95,244 posts)That is different from saying a statement is fictitious. A person must know a statement is false before he can be said to made a fictitious statement.

In fairness WCCO and KSTP are both the same. FOX is FUX.
