Biden ally sees Klobuchar as less likely Biden running mate

Source: AP

By ALAN FRAM

WASHINGTON (AP) — Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar seems a less likely choice to become Joe Biden’s running mate on his presidential ticket following this week’s death of a black man in police custody in Minneapolis, a key ally of the former vice president said.

Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., told reporters on Friday that while he believes Klobuchar is “absolutely” qualified to be vice president, “This is very tough timing for her.”

Klobuchar was a prosecutor years ago in the county that includes Minneapolis. During that period, more than two dozen people — mostly minorities — died during encounters with police. Following customary practice at the time, she sent the cases to grand juries, which brought no criminal charges against any of the officers involved.

Clyburn, who called his view a “gut feeling,” played a pivotal role in helping Biden become the Democratic Party’s all-but-certain presidential nominee. Clyburn is the No. 3 House Democratic leader and Congress’ highest-ranking black lawmaker.

I posted this in LBN because Clyburn is the No. 3 House Democratic leader and Congress’ highest-ranking black lawmaker.

The haircomb incident.

If picked as running mate, the GOP jokes and jabs would practically write themselves.

Some mistakes are deal-breakers - even in otherwise eminently qualified candidates.

Sounds like informing the Russian Ambassador in the closing moments of "The Hunt for Red October".

But seriously, her hair was so stiff in the NH debate. I mean wig-cornstarched stiff. This was Trent Lott formula without the sheen.

And AP had to write a story about this that everyone knew 3 days ago?

We're all human; we all do and/or say things we later regret, when under great stress and pressure.

It's just that this in particular would make her a distinct liability, should she be on the ticket.

But she's a formidable senator - and with a Democratic majority next year (God willing), I can definitely see her having a major role in having President Biden's legislation passed.

Bitchy Mitchy will just have to go pound sand.

and Amy would have been a great choice, but this wild time has unfortunately likely put her out of the running. Kamala is looking more likely now I would think.
