Police in Lincoln City, Ore., said this weekend that they arrested seven men on various charges after a group of white people they were a part of allegedly harassed a Black family on Independence Day by using racial slurs and Nazi salutes.

The local police department said Sunday that the men had been arrested after their group taunted a Black family the night before “by yelling racial slurs at them, insulting them and using Nazi salutes towards them” at nearby a local beach.

The office said cops had been called to the beach initially after receiving a report about the same group shooting illegal fireworks and causing a disturbance. Upon their arrival, the “highly intoxicated group” began to surround the responding officers, the office also said.

Amid the chaos, the agency said officers at the scene were able to form “a line between the group of white persons and the black family allowing the black family to safely leave the beach and return to their room.”

Gennadiy Kachankov (30), Antoliy Kachankov (28), Andrey Zaytsev (28), Oleg Saranchuk (45), Ruslan Tkachenko (22), all of Clark County Washington were charged with the following crimes: Riot, Interfering with Police, Disorderly Conduct II, Harassment, Possession of Illegal Fireworks, and Offensive Littering. Yuriy Kachankov (30) of Clark County Washington was also charged the above listed charges along with Resisting arrest.

The persons in custody were all transported and lodged at the Lincoln City Police Department. Due to corona virus policies at the county jail, six subjects were issued criminal citations released on 7/5/20. An additional male, who refused to identify himself and who had no ID on his person, was transported to and booked into the Lincoln County Jail for fingerprint identification and charged with the above listed crimes.

21. As a Russian myself..by bloodline, never been to Russia, this doesn't surprise me at all.

There are a number of counties in Oregon that have official forms, etc. in English, Spanish and Russian.

Washington and Oregon (so does California, but in comparison to the populace...) has a large contingent of Russian religious refugee's (as well as Canada) from the Tsarist regime. And with that, since the demise of the Soviet Union, a lot of Russians followed the trail of their great grandparents.

Most, keep to themselves, stay in their own tribe, etc. Most trouble they get with the law is disorderly conduct when they are drunk.

But ever since the "new Russians" arrived from the collapsed Soviet Union...well, yeah, its been a clash of cultures...I could really go on with examples of this and the animosity between the two.

Most have not integrated into the great "melting pot". They still keep separate communities, hence why all the "thugs" were Russian.

Funny thing happened, when they got here, Mexico and Canada in the early 1900's, they were considered scum. Some even went out to Mississippi and the land they were looking at to colonize was near black communities (whites wouldn't have them any were near them)...and even they didn't want them. The Red Scare also didn't help things much for them.

Fast forward a generation, most built up successful businesses and spoke fluent English and couldn't be distinguished from ordinary Americans, with a few exceptions (Stadi Ved-Old Believers and Dukabors). But the Orthodox and other sects blended in, but still kept their communities distinct. But outwardly, they behaved like "ugly Americans" so they could blend in. If they didn't, they were considered communist bastards and shouldn't be trusted.

Unfortunately, blending in the early 1900's also meant they adopted the prejudicial stereo types, something their parents didn't do (the Pentecostal religion may have been influenced by a Russian sect, and they were very inclusive). But things like Birth of Nation, most of their customers being racists themselves, etc...brought them from being the people who sheltered Armenians during the genocide, risking their own lives....to being your typical right wing, white, racist asshole.

It has been slowly reversing, some groups more than others, but there is still a long way to go. Because your average white American has a long way to go. And it dumbfounds me, some openly call for the US Government to become "Christian"....and I have to remind them, their great grandparents left a "Christian" nation because of the oppression. Because the weren't the right type of Christian. It takes them a few minutes sometimes.

Edit: Forgot to mention, the clash of cultures. Many who left after the Iron Curtain fell, showed up and asked for a job. And being Russian, got preferential treatment. Only....they didn't exactly express gratitude. One who was a farmer, hired a Russian to help pick his crops. He got one row done while the Mexican worker got three done. He approached him and basically told him WTF? His excuse was literally "I'm just a slow worker". He told him not to come back.

My father was a business owner, and hired some Russians fresh, straight out of the Soviet Union, again, preferential treatment. He came home one night, and said, "I'll stick to hiring illegal aliens...these guys from Russia sit on their ass all day".

I'm sure these are just isolated incidents as there are plenty of stories of hard working Russians out there...but a few bad apples, can seriously alter perception.

BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) – A man from Battle Ground was arrested early Monday morning after police say he attacked another man with a knife. Gennadiy V. Kachankov, 29, allegedly attacked the man near the 500 block of Northeast Parkway Avenue. Police responded to the scene a bit after 1 a.m. after receiving 911 calls reporting an assault with a knife. Officers quickly located Kachankov and placed him into custody for questioning.

They found the victim, also 29, inside a nearby house. The victim was transported by ambulance to Peace Health Medical Center, where police say he is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Kachankov was later booked into the Clark County Jail; he is facing a charge of assault in the first degree. Police say Kachankov and the victim are known to each other. The victim suffered knife wounds to his chest and hand.

A Battle Ground man called 911 early Monday morning to say he had “just stabbed a guy with a knife a couple times,” court records state.

Gennadiy V. Kachankov, 29, who is accused of stabbing the acquaintance in the chest, appeared Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree assault.

The victim, identified in court records as Orey Rogers, was treated for his injuries at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver and was released, according to a hospital spokesman.

Battle Ground police were dispatched at 1:07 a.m. to the 500 block of North Parkway Avenue for a report of a stabbing. While the caller was reporting that a man came to their door with a knife wound to the chest, Kachankov was also calling in, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

He told the dispatcher he had stabbed someone, the affidavit states, and gave his location. When police arrived, Kachankov was holding his phone to his head in one hand and clutching a knife in the other hand. Kachankov, who had blood on his hands, dropped the knife when ordered and was placed in handcuffs, according to the affidavit. He told police the victim, Rogers, was about two blocks away.
