RNC chair says GOP to pay for convention, dodges Pompeo speech report

Source: Politico

Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel on Sunday said the GOP will pay for all Republican National Convention events, dodging a report that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will address the convention while on an official trip to the Middle East.

Pompeo is expected to address the Republican National Convention on Tuesday while on an official trip to the Middle East, according to The Associated Press. When pressed on whether taxpayers will be reimbursed for the trip, given the unusual circumstance of a diplomat supporting a presidential campaign, McDaniel said on CBS' "Face the Nation" that the RNC and the Trump campaign will pay for their own events.

"I'm not confirming anything having to do with Secretary Pompeo's trip," McDaniel clarified. "I am just saying the programming, the staging, everything that we're doing will be paid for by the Republican National Committee and the campaign."

"Everything that we've put together has changed because of Covid," McDaniel said. "The president rightly said we're going to leave Jacksonville because we don't want to have resources taken away from a city that's dealing with a pandemic. And he brought it back to the White House, which is his residence."

It is public housing provided by the people of the United Stated for their elected leader.

Tenants like Trump are every landowner’s nightmare. Look at how the wife recently destroyed the Rose Garden.

He’s a resident now because Senate co-conspirators refused to evict him. But his lease is up in November and more government housing awaits—in jail.

If I remember correctly, each one got quite a bit from the 2016 convention. And, how much was the inauguration budget? Didn't a friend of Melania get several...like a lot...of milliions? Did they ever track that down?

jacked up room rates at the tRump Hotel in DC, and other costs. There is an ongoing investigation I think. Ronna McDaniel has a strange, egg-shaped face. She is related to Romney, so I imagine THAT is how she got this job. Uncle Mitt put that in jeopardy by voting FOR impeachment.

The first guy they had running it, but was removed and put in another position...can't remember his name...was buying fancy cars and a boat, I think...which was suspected to be from the RNC coffers.

I think they all use it as a piggy bank. Isn't there a group that is supposed to be watching that? Checking to see if the RNC is paying part of these "presidential trips" that end up as campaigns? Obama had to portion out the expense if he combined the two situations, so Trump should also have to do so. Most of his trips end up as campaigns.

I heard the other day that they raised the room rates at the hotel to $795/room, or over $1000 for others once they declared Trump would give his acceptance speech on the south lawn.

while in charge of that Pac. I would bet that Don Jr.'s child support is being paid from it, too. Nothing more than a slush fund for the tRumps. Who would want to stay in any tRump hotel, paying outrageous prices for all that cheap gold paint? Emolument clause only applies to (D) presidents. Just like all the other rules!! The tRump "kids" desperately want daddy to get another 4 years, so they can live off that gravy train. Useless free loaders, with low I.Q's.

I thought he was in charge of the convention. Darned memory.

Man, I'll bet he took off with plenty off that PAC. You also know they use those for piggy banks, not to mention the cash they pick up at rallies. Normally, I would internally bawl myself out for such thoughts, but after nearly 4 years, I know I'm probably right.

the host city was left holding the bill for police protection, overtime, cleanup. There are many cities across the country, still waiting for payment. Lots 'o luck! The venues weren't even paid. Many people suggested getting paid up front when president jughead planned one of his hate fests. I guess it is the tRump way. In Ireland (the trip taxpayers paid for) the tRump "boys" ordered drinks all around at many pubs, then left without paying. Grifting freeloaders the entire group.

If Pompeo has official business to conduct for eight hours on both Tuesday and Wednesday in the Middle East, Pompeo calling into a the Republican National Convention on Tuesday evening is no bigger a deal than anyone else who goes to a museum or some other attraction during evening hours while on a business trip.

Trump and is cronies do plenty of stupid shit. I don't think this is an example though.
