Netanyahu Envoy Says U.S. Should Expand Arms Aid To Israel

WASHINGTON -- A special envoy of the Israeli prime minister said the United States should expand its arms aid to Israel in light of the increased threats posed by the unstable aftermath of the "Arab Spring" revolutions.
Zalman Shoval, a former Israeli ambassador to the United States and foreign policy advisor to Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party, said in an interview Friday that the instability in Egypt, Libya and Syria suggest that the U.S.-Israel security ties will be probably more important than ever before.
He said the United States should consider increasing its emergency inventory of military equipment in Israel, and step up joint military exercises with the Israel Defense Forces to demonstrate to neighboring governments the U.S. commitment to regional stability. Since 1990, the United States has stored military equipment in Israel for use by U.S. armed forces or by the IDF in an emergency.
Shoval said political instability and violence in the region and the advance of Islamist parties show that Americans were generally too optimistic about the uprisings.

(4,856 posts)They've had our support for ages. They don't appreciate it. They disrespect the president. They are the Neocons. They have infiltrated our government on every level. At this point they are putting the world on the brink of nuclear war with their constant threats. They are not an asset to the USA. They are a burden. I personally am tired of them always playing the persecuted Jews card. I think the rest of the world is a bit worn out with that as well. They have recklessly killed so many innocent Palestinians and Lebanese people with their harsh reactions to every terrorist idiots attack. Personally I wish they would go suck at some other countries tit. I'm not anti semitic. I love John Stewart, Ben Stiller, and all the great Jewish stars that are in entertainment but Ben Netenyahu and the Likkud party I could do with out. Cut their funding please. And boot Joe Lieberman the hell out of the USA. He is an agent of Israel first and a US congressman second.

(582 posts)Netanyahu, when you get control of the illegal settlers moving into the contested zones, I will then consider your defense needs. With your minority members of the government dragging the whole government around, that is one reason why you need more defense. Stop the settlements, remove the illegal ones, control you minority government members, and you might even see you need less defense assistance.
I worked by tail off bringing you supplies in 1973. Logged 27 round trips from Wright-Patterson to the Sinai. To don't call me anti-jewish. But it does take both parties to make peace, and your zealots are screwing the pooch.

(45,558 posts)The Iranian economy is faltering because president Obama and SOS Clinton have put together a good strong economic coalition to bring Iran to it's knees. I think it is because the president hasn't been seen as being bullied by Bibi...
Talk about meddling in our election.
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-10-03/europe-weighs-more-sanctions-as-iran-s-currency-plummets
The U.K., France and Germany are pressing for new sanctions to bring Irans economy to its knees and curb its nuclear ambitions, according to several European diplomats, as rioting over the countrys tumbling currency suggests the existing sanctions are taking a toll.
In a confidential letter to the 27 EU member states, portions of which were provided to Bloomberg News, the foreign ministers of Europes three largest economies criticized Iran for its lack of openness over its nuclear program and called for raising the cost to Irans leaders of refusing to abandon what the U.S., Europe and Israel say is a covert nuclear weapons program. Iran says its program is solely for civilian energy and medical research.
So far, Iran has not reacted positively to our proposal, the British, French and German ministers wrote in their Sept. 20 letter, referring to a proposal for Iran to abandon medium-enriched uranium in exchange for aviation and energy incentives.

The international community should tighten the noose on Tehran to the point of threatening the Iranian regime's survival if it does not relinquish its "mad" nuclear ambitions, the defence secretary, Philip Hammond, says.
In the most forthright indication yet of the escalating sanctions policy ambitions from a senior elected western official, Hammond warned in an interview with the Observer that there would be "more pain on the streets", predicting "potentially regime-threatening disruption and dissent", which he said would pose a clear threat to the government.
This fifty year zero sum approach to Israel has just made it worse in the area.

(6,960 posts)so only israel and the US should have WMDs. They are the only two countries who threaten everyone else or even invade on the pretext that they have (Iraq) or may get (Iran) WMDs.
Notice no one threatens N. Korea, or India... and detente was the result of the massive arsenals the US and then USSR built against each otherd.
Sadly for the world, the best defense is a strong offense!
And Israel is a bully nation

In July, Obama gave them 70 million more. Time to pull yourself up from your bootstraps, as Repubs would say.
