Rite Aid fires manager who defended herself when customer without mask became violent

YORK, Pa. – Elena Santiago says she was fired from her job at a Rite Aid in York, Pennsylvania after she defended herself from a customer who reacted violently when she asked him to leave the store for refusing to wear a face mask.

A shift manager at the Rite Aid pharmacy just off the square in downtown York, she loved talking to regular customers, people she considered friends. The store serves as a center of the community downtown – more like the corner store than part of a corporate chain.

Wednesday morning, she woke up for the first time in four-and-a-half years without her job.

It began when a young man carrying a skateboard walked into the store at about 12:28 p.m. Sept. 3, not wearing a face mask.

11. I work as a cashier in a grocery emporium.

The customers with either no masks or masks below the nose or chin have an agenda IMO. To make a statement that rules don't apply to them and/or to get you fired during a Pandemic. About a month ago, I had a customer with tats up and down her arms dedicate almost a half hour to customer service to complain about me. While I remained detached and professional, she told superiors that I was consistently rude to her. Fortunately, I didn't get a write-up.

19. Don't know if it's still there, but there was a Rite Aid on the 16th St. Mall in Denver. Usually I

never found what I wanted, too pricey, not much on customer service & was always like a ghost town! This was pre-pandemic about a year ago...

Watch how fast Rite-Aid jumps rolls out a "cover their ass" campaign. They have nearly 2500 stores in the US. Instead of firing her they should have been making a $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of that PUKE.
