Acting Homeland Secretary Chad Wolf defies subpoena and skips House hearing

Source: CNN

By Priscilla Alvarez and Geneva Sands, CNN

(CNN)Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf was a no-show Thursday morning at a House hearing on threats to the US homeland after a feud between the department and the committee over scheduling.

Instead, Wolf is participating in a meeting with Senate Homeland Security Committee staff regarding his nomination to be secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Thursday, according to two committee aides and confirmed by DHS, though it's unclear if timing of the meeting conflicted with the hearing.

President Donald Trump announced Wolf's nomination in August -- 10 months after he'd be serving in the role in an acting capacity. DHS cited Wolf's nomination as reason for not attending the House panel hearing.

Democratic Chairman Bennie Thompson of Mississippi denounced Wolf's decision to defy a subpoena to testify before the House Homeland Security Committee.

Was allowed to happen 18 months ago when enforcement of subpoenas didn't happen. No repercussions so nothing to fear. Not rocket science
