Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Champion Of Gender Equality, Dies At 87

Source: NPR.org

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the demure firebrand who in her 80s became a legal, cultural, and feminist icon has died. The Supreme Court announced her death, saying the cause was complications from cancer.

Architect of the legal fight for women's rights in the 1970s, Ginsburg subsequently served 27 years on the nation's highest court, becoming its most prominent member. Her death will inevitably set in motion what promises to be a nasty and tumultuous political battle over who will succeed her, and it thrusts the Supreme Court vacancy into the spotlight of the presidential campaign.

But she shouldn't have had to. So much depended on her.

I hate that we don't just have the space to grieve, but that a sense of dread of what the Deplorable in Chief will do.

May he choke on bile for each and every nasty comment he utters and tweets about Justice Ginsburg and her passing.

I don't know much about the process of selecting her replacement, but hopefully Democrats will somehow be able to 'hold the line' until a worthy replacement can be found and hopefully prevent the rethugs from stacking the courts even further....

From north of the border, my condolences, and in spite of your loss, best wishes & best of luck to you all going forward.

RIP, Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsberg

Your courage and service to humanity will not be soon forgotten.

We The People will see this through. No doom and gloom here, we owe her that.

We will now have an eve greater tenaciousness to fight back with everything we have against the evil Killer Clown and his minions.

Just try it Turtlehead.

It doesn't matter who wins on November 3. There will be no vacancy on the Supreme Court by then.

Make them afraid of consequences if they do this. Make it the talk daily on every national news outlet how they refused to allow an Obama nominee in his last year, and they are hypocrites if they ram through a replacement for RBG.

Part 2 of the message is wait until after the election and let the winner choose this critical nominee.

They will probably do it anyway but at least it should be at the expense of going against millions and millions of Americans taking to the streets.

If the hypocritical rethugs ram through another Justice, Biden and the new Congress should just
Refuse to enforce their decisions. Actually, the force of the USSC is Long Overdue for a rollback.
President and Congress can simply refuse to enforce their decisions. It will be legal and there is nothing they can do about it.

You just knew this was going to happen. Why else rush a list of nominees? But, we are not doomed. Don't let this pull you off center. Our job and duty is to vote the Orange Monster et al out of office!

What terrible news on this first day of voting! But, we can't give up! We have lost an icon, but "Let's punish the Repubs!"
