Florida lifts all COVID-19 restrictions

Source: ABC News

Florida residents will no longer be fined for not wearing face masks and COVID-19 restrictions on all businesses in the state, including restaurants and bars, have been lifted in an effort to help the state's economy, according to Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"Every business has the right to operate," DeSantis said at news conference Friday. "Some of the locals can do reasonable regulations. But you can't just say no."

Local governments can put their own restrictions in place as long as they don't limit restaurant seating to less than 50% occupancy. Local officials will be required to justify restrictions that limit a restaurant's occupancy to less than 100% capacity.

Florida logged nearly 2,000 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday and the state's total number of cases tops 700,000. In addition to infections, at least 14,037 residents have died of the virus, according to the state health department.

Fucking idiots. This is going to get BAD, and fast. Infections are going up, deaths are going up, and GOPers don't give a fuck.

We all know by now there will be huge spike in 2-4 weeks. That's just in time for election day.

If the numbers are really bad, some might choose to stay home and not vote.

Or maybe I'm overthinking this.

With most of mr drumpf's followers perfectly willing to swim through a pool filled with broken glass and used hypodermic needles to cast their vote, DeSatanis is probably banking on that to deliver Florida's electoral votes to his BFF.

at all especially as the numbers increase and the likelihood of picking it up increases. There are going to be a lot of people flocking to Florida for fun in the sun, and they won't give a damn about any masks, and especially after a few drinks and no one else is wearing them.

She said everything is open, even the schools, and there have been no new cases.

I was going to ask if she meant no new cases on her block? In the development? In Englewood? Because it sure as hell isn’t “no new cases” in all of Florida.

That's what many restaurateurs say when they open up because, despite their being open, few, if any, customers want to come in because it's too dangerous.

What a bunch of idiots!!!

Luckily - there are people who have common sense and will continue to wear masks and take precautions. Just because someone says that today everything is "magically" safe, does not make it so. Those who will not protect themselves will find out very quickly that this virus is far from gone.

How stupid to lift all restrictions right when flu season begins and the virus is spiking all over the country. It's just insanity. And he will find out when we end up in a red zone again, which is going to happen.

All we can do at this point is to try to protect ourselves. We know what to do - keep clean, sanitize, wear our masks, wash our hands. There is no freaking way i'm going without my mask. I don't think this is going to be behind us until WELL into 2021.

Please, Floridians, pretend the virus doesn't exist, and go out and spend. The economy needs you!

Be quick, because you may get too sick too soon to go spend.

If you die, please smile as you do, knowing you have done your bit to help your country!

There is a subset of the population here, that goes out and parties. Mostly under 65. There is another subset of the population that stays home. Mostly over 65. There may therefore be the same number of people going to more places.

People over 65 realize that while they constitute 15% of Rona cases they also constitute 82% of rona fatalities. That isn't going to change if we just stay home, but it could easily increase if we go out to the rona swap meets. So I think the people like me (over 65) will just continue to stay home, save money and get take out and/or delivery of food and booze. Result: businesses will have to share a decreasing per capita of younger customers, and the rona cases will mount. Older folks will just keep on doing what they're doing.

in October. Will have to quarantine for 14 days before it. She is staying in her old apartment which her younger daughter now rents. MIL retired back in July and bought a house down there.

Ok, so she will have to quarantine but what about her daughter? Daughter works at a Salon. If she has to quarantine along with her Mom, she will not get paid and could possibly lose her job.

Beats me why MIL did not just have the surgery in Florida, although it will be a long recovery time and she will be back with family for Thanksgiving.
