McConnell plans to fill two key circuit court seats even if Trump loses

Source: The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says he will fill two key circuit court vacancies after the elections, even if President Trump loses and there's a Democratic takeover of government.

The leader's assertion makes clear that judicial confirmations will be a high priority, regardless of the election results.

"We're going to run through the tape. We go through the end of the year, and so does the president. We're going to fill the 7th Circuit, and I'm hoping we have time to fill the 1st Circuit as well," McConnell told conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt.

"And we are, by the way, confirming a district judge as soon as we get back after the election, and we're going to clean the plate, clean all the district judges off as well," McConnell said.

"....Mind-blowing’:
Experts stunned by 3 AM Trump tweets threatening Supreme Court Justices
President Donald Trump in the middle of the night launched a 45 minute Twitter tantrum that ended with an attack on the Supreme Court’s justices, one-third of whom he placed on the bench.

"....Trump clearly was furious about a recent ruling handed down by eight of the now-nine justices. The Court ruled that Pennsylvania and North Carolina can accept absentee ballots after Election Day.

"....The president went ballistic, threatening the nation’s top jurists.

"...."If Sleepy Joe Biden is actually elected President, the 4 Justices (plus1) that helped make such a ridiculous win possible would be relegated to sitting on not only a heavily PACKED COURT, but probably a REVOLVING COURT as well. At least the many new Justices will be Radical Left!”

"....The president is making clear not only that he is planning to contest the results of the election all the way to the Supreme Court, but that he fully expects the Court to hand him the win.

"....To be clear, unlike in some states, there is nothing in law that allows a presidential candidate to contest the results of an election. But Trump’s legal team, and Jared Kushner, reportedly have been planning how to take the election to the Court for months.

I suspect some Democrat is already working on the “Judicial Modernization Act of 2021.” Our courts are SWAMPED with cases that they can not hear. We need a LOT more judges. The SCOTUS could use 4, 6, or 8 more judges too. They’re clearly overworked and overwhelmed with cases.

Congress needs to make a new law that in a Presidential election year new judges may not be installed in October until after the election. If the person that wins the Presidential election is from the other party, no more judges may be put in place until the new President takes office in January.

Jamming as many conservative right-wing republican judges onto as many benches as he can. He knows exactly what he's doing. Even if he loses his senate seat, his legacy will last decades.

majority in the Senate is to increase SCOTUS and the federal courts and appoint need judges to each of them within the first 90 days.
Make it 13 for SCOTUS and increase the other courts number of judges by 2 and only appoint young progressive justices.
That way it will prevent the Republicans from their attempt to protect themselves and Trump by corrupting our justice system by rigging it with biased judges that will likely rule in their favor.

Every single time someone brings up 'court packing' they need to be reminded that Moscow Mitch has packed the courts. He denied President Obama's nominee a chance to be voted on and allowed tRump to shove a right wing ideologue down our throats, he rammed through an unqualified justice with mere days to go until the election, and is threatening to further tilt courts to the right after the election even if GOPers lose. Democrats are only proposing to balance the courts.

I caught Covid in September, nearly passed over the rainbow bridge, and am left with at least temporary and possibly permanent disability at a time I needed to go back to work.

Also, facing possible loss of my ACA through the court case.

I still consider myself lucky, but there are so many people and families that need financial help.
