Counties With Worst Virus Surges Overwhelmingly Voted Trump

Source: AP News

U.S. voters went to the polls starkly divided on how they see President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, with a surprising twist: In places where the virus is most rampant now, Trump enjoyed enormous support.

An Associated Press analysis reveals that in 376 counties with the highest number of new cases per capita, the overwhelming majority — 93% of those counties — went for Trump, a rate above other less severely hit areas. Most were rural areas in Montana, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin.

Taking note of the contrast, state health officials are pausing for a moment of introspection. Even as they worry about rising numbers of hospitalizations and deaths, they hope to reframe their messages and aim for a reset on public sentiment now that the election is over.

“Public health officials need to step back, listen to and understand the people who aren’t taking the same stance” on mask-wearing and other control measures, said Dr. Marcus Plescia of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. I think there’s the potential for things to get less charged and divisive,” he said, adding that there’s a chance a retooled public health message might unify Americans around lowering case counts so hospitals won’t get swamped during the winter months...

The analysis by AP was limited to counties in which at least 95% of precincts had reported results, and grouped counties into 6 categories based on the rates of COVID-19 cases they’d experienced per 100,000 residents.

Polling, too, shows voters who split on Republican Trump vs. Democrat Joe Biden differed on whether the pandemic is under control.

Trump told his minions to just ignore it and it would go away, and he made mitigation efforts a culture war issue.

Regardless of living in a very blue state, the county I live in overwhelmingly went to Trump. Our COVID rates are skyrocketing in our tiny city and our county currently has the highest infection rate in the state. Every freaking COVID report the newspaper posts on social media draws the Trumpsters to bellow their conspiracies and to poopoo reality. They are a darn thorn in our sides and refuse to take the virus seriously. Thankfully, our governor is keeping his mask mandate in place and those of us that take is seriously, are keeping our outings to a minimum.

I have no sympathy for these idiots that voted for the most ignorant , racist and hateful president in my lifetime. I hope they are are hit with big medical bills and get denied for pre existing conditions when the mf45 supreme gets rid of the ACA.

It is a death cult.

MAGAts believe in Darwinism more than religion. They want their relatives to drop dead so they can be surviving beneficiary?

Jr. just called for "total war" over the election.

TWITTER account associated with Bannon banned for calling for the beheading of two federal officials.

Plan on hunkering inside this weekend. Could get rough out there.

They refuse to wear masks. They cram into Trump rallies with zillions of other non-mask wearing Trumpsters. They huddle together in church. They huddle together at motorcycle rallies.

Of course their infection rate is skyrocketing.

You would THINK that the parents among them would be doing everything in their power to prevent their children from contracting Covid, after news reports of a certain number of children dying from it and others developing longterm health problems. But no.

And if they're willing to take the chance with their children, since the death rate in children is comparatively low, how can they be that cavalier about the possibility of infecting their parents, their grandparents, or anyone in their family with underlying health issues who very well could die if they got Covid?

Just like Jim Jones's followers in Jonestown, their trust in Trump and Fox News overrides their devotion to their family members.

Hoodwinked thinking challenged stooges who are too lazy to take the time to think it through and actually do 15 mins of research instead of sending death threats and other unsettling malarkey?

That group that is willing to ignore the death count vs. the rest of earth, and still think, oh he's doing a fine job?

That group of folks that thought it was fine to be packed in like sardines to see Dear Leader who had just recently although not exactly 100% proven had the C-19?

That group of folks is now sick is such a huge surprise, I am glad I was sitting down.
