Trump puts Giuliani in charge of his lawsuits challenging the election results.
Source: New York Times
The presidents advisers had warned him that they were likely to lose in that case, and he faces increasingly dim hopes of overturning the election results. Nonetheless, Mr. Trump has been trying every possible option to change the outcome and trying to get what he sees as fighters making his case, often conflating a media strategy with a legal one.
...snip...
A half-dozen other Trump advisers have described Mr. Giulianis efforts as counterproductive and said that he was giving the president unwarranted optimism about what could happen. Those advisers have said that they are concerned Mr. Giuliani is damaging not only Mr. Trumps remaining legal options, but his legacy and his future opportunities in politics as he considers another campaign in 2024.
...snip...
In an Oval Office meeting with aides on Thursday, Mr. Trump put Mr. Giuliani on speakerphone so the others could hear him. He angrily accused the aides of not telling the president the truth, according to people briefed on the meeting. Justin Clark, the deputy campaign manager, pushed back aggressively on Mr. Giuliani, said the people briefed on what took place.

Reminds me of lectures on King Henry VIII, beheading wives, firing one doctor after another because none of them knew anything about illness with the medicine of that age, his treatment for gout was leeches and bloodlettings and tight leg bandages, the more irate as time wore on.

(23,226 posts)What a BRILLIANT maneuver to place the vaunted legendary Rudy in charge! It seems we are totally DEFEATED by the scintillating jurisprudential intellect with which we are confronted. On behalf of the Biden/Harris campaign, I hereby offer our abject surrender to his superior cerebral ministrations.

He may have to massage the facts a bit, but if he makes enough motions, he's hoping he get a shot at unloading in the courtroom, blowing the case wide open, and squeezing out a win.

(81,261 posts)Holy cannoli, I remember how Rudy could do no wrong, in the way he took charge of the 9/11 aftermath. He became "America's Mayor." Frankly, he did indeed do a good job. Stepped up like a commander and took charge. And he was out there all the time, a constant presence, and kept the public well-informed and updated. With much of the country, Rudy walked on water.
And it was quite literally all downhill from there.

(470 posts)Does anyone understand this, by the way? This argument, "to give man-baby enough time to adjust to his disappointment," is actually being advanced by so-called adults. Of course we've all heard variations on this theme during the last four years of psychopathy, but just wtf? Who the hell ever lived one day of their life in the real world thinking like that? Is this like when the fire department shows up at a building where only one floor is burning, and the brigade captain says, "What's the harm in waiting to do anything until a few more floors catch on fire?"
