Trump campaign to request recount in Dane and Milwaukee counties
Source: The Cap Times
Wisconsin, President Donald Trump's campaign has wired $3 million to the state to cover costs in a key battleground state he lost by some 20,600 votes.
The $3 million, received by the Wisconsin Elections Commission, falls short of the estimated $7.9 million needed to complete a full statewide recount, though the sum could go toward a more targeted request.
But while the campaign has yet to file a petition formally seeking a retallying of the votes cast in the November presidential contest, officials in a statement Wednesday morning said they'd target Dane and Milwaukee counties, the state's two liberal strongholds, as they noted concerns over absentee balloting.
"The people of Wisconsin deserve to know whether their election processes worked in a legal and transparent way," former Dane County Judge Jim Troupis, a counsel to the campaign, said in the statement. "Regrettably, the integrity of the election results cannot be trusted without a recount in these two counties and uniform enforcement of Wisconsin absentee ballot requirements."

Well, looks as is the Trump campaign is not totally broke. Just enough to pay for a recount in two counties. Notice that it's never the red counties.
On edit: I had received an e-mail from the state party chair looking for recount volunteers. But since I'm not in the two counties, a moot point.

Recount will not start until balance is paid in full.
You have 3 days to remit payment.

(32,017 posts)Florida law in 2000 gave Gore the option to select which counties he wanted recounted. The SCOTUS struck down the Florida Supreme Courts ruling (allowing the properly-requested recounts to proceed) on 14th Amendment equal protection groundsif youre going to recount, you have to recount the whole state in order to satisfy equal protection. I worry that this two-county recount will run afoul of the 14th Amendment and get this case before the SCOTUS.
I make no prediction about what the SCOTUS might do with it, and WI doesnt (alone) have enough electoral votes to change the outcome of the recent election, but selective county recounts have been deemed unconstitutional once, and thats reason for concern, despite the fact that the SCOTUS declared that Bush v. Gore had no precedential standing.
