TEHRAN, Iran (AP) Irans president reiterated his hope Wednesday that U.S. President-elect Joe Biden would return Americas Iran policy to where he left things as vice president four years ago, state TV reported, rejoining Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers.
Hassan Rouhani said that if Iran and the U.S. could find a path back to the situation on Jan 20, 2017, President Donald Trumps inauguration day, it could be a huge solution for many issues and problems.
Under Trump, tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated, pushing the two sides to the brink of war earlier this year.

(35,364 posts)with Iran and the Clear Sky's, how can a president just pull us out himself. Who would sign a treaty with us anymore if the next president can just unilaterally pull us out?
He has also pulled us out of treaties with Russia too.

Doesn't whomever signs on, do it in the name of the country, the USA, not in his or her personal name, as a personal choice?
Why even go through the legislative process? Even if a President had all branches in his corner, wouldn't he still have to formally get it all rubber stamped by the Congress?

(59,504 posts)On Clear skies and the Start and New Start treaties, they were approved by the Senate - getting the needed supermajority.
It seems crazy to think that Biden would have to get the 67 votes to reinstate those treaties - when Trump needed no approval to leave. I don't know what the rules actually are.
