Gantz says party will vote to dissolve Knesset, setting stage for new elections

Source: Times of Israel

Blue and White party leader and Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Tuesday that he can no longer support the government headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his party will vote Wednesday in support of a preliminary reading of a bill to dissolve the Knesset and call early elections.

Describing Netanyahu as “a serial breaker of promises” in a prime-time televised address, Gantz accused the prime minister of lying to the public when he agreed to form a unity coalition between Likud and Blue and White, an agreement in which Netanyahu promised to hand over the premiership to Gantz in November 2021.

“I entered the government with a heavy heart but with a whole heart,” Gantz, who also serves as alternate prime minister, said regarding his May decision to form a coalition with Netanyahu.

Israel needs to do a house cleaning

They meanwhile are also facing similar threats to stability until then and are at risk for a crooked corrupt leader who may take them into a conflict (ie with Iran) that could be avoided.

It would be nice (worldwide) if the Left or even the Centre could mobilize the kind of support the Right does. I am so tired of all these crypto-fascists running things. Can NZ's PM become Queen of the World?

1) Likud and Blue & White are evenly matched with support.

2) Neither has the ability to patch together a stable governing coalition with the minority Parties.

3) The only third Party with sufficient strength to form a coalition (Yisrael) is nationalist (so it won't support including the Arab List) but secular (so it won't support including the Ultra-Orthodox).

I don't see anything changing.

Bibi Netanyahu is Trump Lite. Smarter, better spoken and more worldly, but just as much a crook, liar and con man. When Benny Gantz entered into a coalition government Likud, everybody knew that Bibi would not respect any of the promised he made to him and would never step down in November 2021, although that was at the center of the coalition agreement. Gantz, a retired general with no political experience naively believed that since Bibi shook his hand and promised to step down in November 2021, he would keep his word, which of course Bibi never had any intention of doing.

The irony is that when Gantz saved Netanyau's political career, which he had, because Bibi had no chance of forming a coalition government and was desperate, facing serious criminal charges, he saved Bibi, totally unnecessarily, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Everybody was telling him not to touch Bibi with a 10 feet pole, abut he got conned by the lifetime con man, just like Bibi has conned so many during his political career.
