Trump campaign brings new U.S. Supreme Court challenge over Pennsylvania's 2020 election

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer

President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to step in and overturn several decisions the Pennsylvania Supreme Court made regarding the 2020 election, saying the court overstepped its bounds and “the outcome of the election for the Presidency of the United States hangs in the balance.”

The campaign on Sunday filed a cert petition and a motion to expedite, asking the U.S. Supreme Court to fast-track the case because of the impending Jan. 6 meeting of Congress to receive the Electoral College results and the Jan. 20 inauguration.

The challenge doesn’t center on any claims of voter fraud, despite Trump’s repeated use of baseless conspiracy theories to attack the election. Instead, it challenges three Pennsylvania Supreme Court decisions on mail ballots and says the state court overstepped its constitutional role. Those opinions, which resolved multiple cases, prohibited counties from comparing mail ballot signatures to those on file; said campaigns and political parties can’t challenge ballots as they are being processed and counted; allowed limitations on observers to the vote count in Philadelphia; and allowed ballots to count even if voters had forgotten to fill out the address or date on the envelope.

In making those decisions, the campaign argues, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court violated the U.S. Constitution in three ways: its due process clause; its equal protection guarantees, by treating ballots differently in different counties; and by taking the state legislature’s power to determine how federal elections are run.

Whether it's from COVID or a massive stroke or falling into and drowning in an industrial vat of liquefied pig shit, it doesn't matter.

No event in the nation's history will be better for the country than his last breath.

Ratifying the Constitution? Pretty good.
Appomattox? A job well done.
V-Day? Congratulations to all involved.

But the day Trump dies? Unprecedented in its glory and magnificence.

I abhor the initiation of violence, but I'll have no objection if nature takes its course with this obese and pampered septuagenarian.

that all the trump creeps will be prosecuted and sent to jail, and that we will never see them again?

I dislike the defeatist attitude the media and many of us take giving this sense of perpetuity to these thugs. The reality is and must be that they will be taken to trial for their crimes, and that there are so many crimes they will all end up behind bars where they belong, and like Charles Manson, we will only hear about them when they leave the earth.

Lets focus on that, not on the buffoon running on 2024, or his kids, and kids-in-law being around to continue infecting the earth.

for bringing in yet another frivolous law suit. If the courts do not start fining them big, and threats of jail time if they persist, they will keep this up right up to Jan. 20. Their plan of course is to create enough smoke and keep it smokey for as long as possible.

will prevail in all walks of life across the Country in all categories of being American citizens everywhere, and where are these thugs everywhere that are supposedly stopping us from doing anything, other than one city at a time? We're are everywhere. We're watching and for the most part, the idiots don't realize that our watching is being recorded for posterity's sake too. They don't know the nature of the digital world. Our advantage now.

This is a threat, plain and simple.

The disruption that these thugs promised is far far overstated.

He has a bunch of supporters who signed up for the $4.99/month donation to 'contest the election'. So they need to file some suits on a regular basis to keep bringing in the money. Its really that simple....mentioning military led recounts, contesting the Jan 6th in Congress, bogus suits, its all just part of his business plan.

Once we accept it for what it is, just a conman stealing from the gullible, not much else matters. So he holds rallies for the next few years to steal more of there money, oh well. The world is moving on Jan 20th, I doubt CNN and MSNBC and the networks pay much attention to him after that. Joe beat Trump in the town hall ratings, really no point in covering him once he is out of office.

But

- In the counties that didn't cure ballots, in most cases, even in red counties, this impacted Democratic voters more anyway, since they were the ones who were doing the majority of the mail-in ballots everywhere.

- The number of "cured" ballots wouldn't be enough to change the outcome of the election anyway.
