Trump's tax returns and related records turned over to Manhattan district attorney

Source: CNN

(CNN)Tax records that former President Donald Trump tried to keep secret for years are now in the hands of the New York district attorney.

Prosecutors obtained the records on Monday, according to a source, just hours after the US Supreme Court denied Trump's last-ditch effort to keep the records private.

The millions of pages of documents, sources say, contain Trump's tax returns spanning from January 2011 to August 2019, as well as financial statements, engagement agreements, documents relating to the preparation and review of tax returns, and work papers and communications related to the tax returns.

Though the documents handed off from Trump's long-time accounting firm Mazars won't be released to the public because they're subject to grand jury secrecy rules, their delivery caps off an extraordinary 17-month quest by the former President and his lawyers to block investigators from obtaining the records.

that don't harm the legal process, but show what a lying crook he is.

If no leaks, then hope the legal process sends impeached traitor right to jail, (do not pass go)

We already had Trump's tax returns before the DA got the official copies and so did they. I suspect based on what has already been leaked the DA has already built most of their cases. All that's left is the filings and perhaps some more witnesses like Jr called on the carpet who will soon face their own legal jeopardy. I think we can expect things to move pretty rapidly from this point on.

The big bravado bullshitter won't say a word about it, but it's now the elephant in the room that will only grow bigger. His tax docs are the criminal evidence that will keep on giving, and all of it is now in the data stream for ANY LEA to request as needed.

Donnie's whole "running for president" gambit was designed to avoid his own financial and criminal accountability. He needed the relative immunity to keep the hounds of justice from his door. He bought himself four or five years of immunity. Now, he's on his slow and inevitable decline. He masqueraded as a winner to build an army of worshippers through constructing a phony brand. Now there will be no winning, ever again. His CPAC appearance will end up being his swan song. Buh-bye, Donnie.

Its all factual. There are a few really easy ones. Like - Did Trump write-off payments to Stormy Daniels, Karen McDougal and subsequently to Michael Cohen as "business expenses"? If so, its willful tax fraud and he has no wiggle room.

The other part that Andrew Weissman has mentioned is that these returns can now be compared to ALL FUTURE tax returns. If Trump filed false returns in the past, and tries to "correct" them in 2020, 2021, 2022, etc..., then these returns are all the proof they need that he committed tax fraud from 2011 to 2019.

That one is easy to find. The bigger fraud is using under valuations of property to lower insurance costs or over valuations of the same property to get loans. The harder fraud to uncover will be money laundering. Investigators need to look into the sale of the house in Florida that brought millions over its valuation during a downturn in the economy. That’s a classic opportunity for money laundering, especially if it was an all-cash sale.

Trump's tax returns have been turned over to Manhattan district attorney

By Shayna Jacobs
Feb. 25, 2021 at 11:06 a.m. EST

NEW YORK -- The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has taken possession of former president Donald Trump's tax returns and a wealth of other financial data deemed central to prosectors' ongoing criminal case, officials confirmed Thursday. The transfer, involving millions of pages of records, occurred Monday after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the former president's last-ditch bid to shield his financial records from the district attorney, Democrat Cyrus R. Vance Jr.

In a statement, a spokesman for Vance's office, Danny Frost, confirmed that Trump's longtime accounting firm, Mazars, had complied with the subpoena after 18 months of delay while the former president's lawyers fought tooth and nail to keep the information private. The transfer occurred Monday, within hours of the Supreme Court's one-line order, Frost said. "As we have maintained throughout this process, Mazars will comply with all its legal and professional obligations," a spokesman for Mazars said Thursday.

A team of analysts in the district attorney's office, including some from an outside forensics accounting firm, FTI Consulting, have been at the ready for months to dissect the records and scour for any evidence of criminal activity at Trump Organization or by its executive employees. The group includes Trump, three of his adult children -- Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump -- and Allen Weisselberg, the company's longtime chief financial officer.

Vance's investigators are evaluating whether the values of property assets in the Trump Organization portfolio were manipulated to gain tax advantages or favorable loans and insurance rates under false pretenses. The records are voluminous, dating back eight years. Vance's examination could take months.

I hope there are leaks that reveal what has been going on with this evil man.
WE deserve to know what is revealed. His supporters will probably defend him but the rest of us deserve to be made aware of what is happening.

If the law does not allow us to know, where is the transparency? Secrecy is one thing but if illegal information is found we should be made aware.
Perhaps I am naive but it is my opinion that we deserve to know what tRump and his cronies have been up to.
8 years worth may be enough but I bet there is much more hidden from prior years.

And: what kind of reputation does his accounting firm have?
