(357 posts)I grew up in the Appalachian coalfields and my father lived through the times that when you worked for the company they literally owned you. You were paid in company script not dollars. You lived in their housing. You bought from the company store. If you were seen doing otherwise your employment was terminated and you got an immediate eviction. Why in the hell would anyone want to go back to such an inhumane way of living.

This would be just as bad as gerrymandered Reeps
governing just for their own interests.

(382 posts)Fascism is the Republican parties goal. They don't even try to hide it anymore. They need to change their name to the Republican Fascist party. They wouldn't lose any support from their cult.

(10,112 posts)The ERCOT board has no regulatory power, and no power to tell energy suppliers to produce more energy. The companies on the grid operate in a feee market that has meant that profits outweigh investments in infrastructure.
How can this man be a Democrat and propose giving the power of government to corporations? They would not be subject to safety regulations or to taxation by the county. Sisolak was elected in 2018, so this may be a pre-election proposal so he can say he is bringing jobs to Nevada.
Nevada already has a critical water shortage. I cannot imagine what bringing multiple corporations to the state with lots of new residents and homes built for their employees would do to the water shortage. Does no one ever consider the environment when proposing to in effect create new cities that would use massive amounts of water!
