Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis bans coronavirus "vaccine passports"
Source: Axios
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order Friday prohibiting businesses from requiring customers to show proof they have received COVID vaccines and preventing the state government from issuing so-called "vaccine passports."
Why it matters: Immunization credentials for the coronavirus have become a controversial subject, especially with Republican governors, though proof of vaccination could speed international travel and economic reopening plans.
What they're saying: DeSantis' order says requiring immunization credentials "would create two classes of citizens based on vaccination."
"Businesses in Florida are prohibited from requiring patrons or customers to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or post-transmission recovery to gain access to, entry upon, or service from the business," the order states.

Is Ron DeSantis *TRYING* to be the worst governor in the country? Or is he in direct competition with Brian Kemp? Either way, expect Florida to have their own home grown COVID variant soon.

My dad loved it, thought it was where good people go when they die. My mother said she loved to see all the high rise time shares and condos being built because they'd make it sink faster.
I never liked it but it was better before Jebbie gave all the pristine beaches away to developer buddies. Now I can't think of anything to recommend it unless you like mildew.

(65 posts)The card should not be laminated. It may be used for additional shots for a booster or variants. Put is a plastic bag or protective sleeve.

(6,017 posts)There have been reports of the heat making the ink where the injector wrote the date & type invisible.
Also, if a booster is needed in the future, it's not possible to write on the laminate.
Make a copy, laminate that & keep it on you. Keep the original safe somewhere.

For the past year we have cheered Governor mandates against Covid, but now we want to reign in that power? This could be that slippery slope many feared.
I am all for vaccinations, and I will proudly show off my passport when I get my second shot on Monday, and I feel DeSantis is an ass for this, but I dont love the idea of Government telling me what to do with my health either.
There is also a true hesitation in the African American community when it comes to the vaccine.
If we allow the vaccine passports to limit what activities we can do, do we risk a new form of segregation? Milwaukee communitys are finding it tough to get the confidence of these communitys to become fully vaccinated.

Got the code, flash your phone, off you go.
I still like the wristband idea better.

OR he is setting the stage for further genocide.
My personal view is he's a Republican terrorist who has declared Jihad on the people of Florida and the surrounding vicinity. It's difficult to tell if he's deliberately exposing everyone in the hope that more Democratic voters will die or suffer.
OR: He's batshit crazy for power and thinks he and the-people-who-matter won't be affected by the disease or the damage to everyone else, or the wide-spread economic breakdown, or medical services collapse, and public services disruption (Fire and Police) so long as they have the money to buy their comfort and his government, And that they can order anyone to do whatever they want done.

(50,419 posts)The GOP used to be of a mind to let the private sector do anything it wanted. Dump toxic waste in the waterways? Hire undocumented immigrants? Sell guns to a guy who stands there saying, hurry up, hurry up, I need to get back home before that (insert derisive term for a woman here) gets back? Not a problem. Business knows better than government what to do.
Now we dont even have vaccine passports yet and the Republicans are dictating how private businesses can handle them.
