D.C. Prosecutors Set Their Targets on Don Jr.'s Posse
Source: Daily Beast
The District of Columbias attorney general on Monday will seek a judges permission to force three more people in the Trump family circle to testify, as investigators continue to look into whether Donald Trumps 2017 inauguration committee misspent more than $1 million and enriched his own company.
The AGs office laid out its plan in court filings earlier this month that had previously been unreported.
The local governments case centers on how Trumps kids blurred the lines between the family business and whats supposed to be a nonprofit, potentially milking the inaugural celebration by funneling events to the Trump International Hotel in Washington where the committee may have overpaid on services.
The worlds about to learn how Trumps inner circlewith Trumps full knowledgetook advantage of the presidential inauguration, said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who helped put together inaugural events and is now a lead witness for the government in this case.

The story will be that it cost the Government more to bring it all to trial than the grifters grifted. A million isn't much.

(11,359 posts)Yeah - probably insider dealing - "so what?" Trying to tell me there wasn't a little gravy dispensed here and there - in any previous inauguration? And, in this case - they didn't even go to any real lengths to hide what they were doing! Sour grapes! Get over it!
and, yeah .. a million isn't all that big a figure

(11,359 posts)and the fact that a lot of people have pretty much shrugged their shoulders -- at all manner of crimes and misdemeanor carried out in brazen fashion by this criminal syndicate. And in the case of the inauguration -- not even an decent attempt at a convincing fig leaf. I just don't see either the public, or the political class, as getting very worked up about this. Would that it were not so, but ....

(9,673 posts)But about that million not being much: remember the story about Barron's Cub Scout dues, I think it was, being taken out of the Trump Org. petty cash fund rather than daddy's wallet? I think it was 11 bucks, certainly less than 20 and maybe less than 10, that the old man wouldn't cough up himself.
That tells me that when it comes to money, that tightwad family thinks ANY amount is too much if someone else can be made to pay. And half of our countrymen appear to think that philosophy is admirable or even something to strive for.
The gross griftniness of that family is remarkable.

(9,865 posts)Pay a fine. Deduct the debt from the taxes they don't pay. And continue.

This is about misspent inauguration committee funds. That means the actual amount of money isn't the only thing at issue. Maybe not even the most important thing.
This could be just the tip of a very large, ugly iceberg.
