China will never allow foreign forces to bully or oppress it: Xi Jinping

Source: Straits Times

BEIJING - China will never allow any foreign force to bully, oppress or subjugate the Chinese people, and any attempt to divide the nation is bound to fail, said President Xi Jinping on Thursday (July 1), as he underpinned the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) ruling legitimacy in a 70-minute speech marking its centenary.

Striking a defiant tone to sustained cheers and applause from a 70,000-strong crowd at Tiananmen Square, Mr Xi fanned the flames of nationalism, while emphasising the Communist Party’s role in China’s rise and its mission to achieve “national rejuvenation”.

The party has been on a campaign to reconstruct its history by focusing on its revolutionary spirit, downplaying past mistakes and drumming up its successes in improving the livelihoods of its people and transforming the country into a global power.

“We have never bullied, oppressed or subjugated the people of any other country, and we never will,” said the Chinese leader as he stood atop the Tiananmen gate to the Forbidden City.

Time to have your brainwashed rubes of people buy into xenophobia and nationalism.

I saw this with Xi Jinping while living in China. I have so much deprogramming to do with my wife when she gets her Green Card and comes here. A year apart and she buys this nonsense hook, line, and sinker.

...Xi Pinging was making a Chinese Communist Party 100th Happy Birthday speech for all the boys and girls...

" “We have never bullied, oppressed or subjugated the people of any other country, and we never will,” said the Chinese leader as he stood atop the Tiananmen gate to the Forbidden City.

But China will never permit anyone to bully or oppress it, Mr Xi said.

“Anyone who thinks of doing this will smash their heads bloody against the Great Wall of steel formed by the flesh and blood of 1.4 billion Chinese people,” he warned in a raised tone to thunderous applause and cheers. "

...they are on the rise and can get things done, no doubt about it...

That does not ignore how China has treated its minority populations, but it also should not be forgotten the west's exploitation of them

western liberal democracies, particularly the US. The global trade environment in which they are given some special status as part of the "special" peoples of the world has contributed greatly to their meteoric rise. All those special statues and special trade agreements served China well. It wasn't until just recently that we stopped subsidizing the shipping of goods from China to the US. This isn't to remove any sort of credit to the Chinese for their own rise, but just to say that the preferential treatment they have received made things much easier for them.

is everything in America seems to be made in China. And not well made at all. You have to be wary of even the pet food they make. But, especially, you have to be careful of electronics. There is a high rate of failure of electronics, usually right after the warranty runs out. Why we allowed this to happen (Bill Clinton, I'm looking at you) I'll never know.

Mostly, I want to beat them to Mars. Let's go!

But those are the diamonds in the rough. Most of their electronics are cheaply-made crap that shits the bed pretty quickly, and usually only functioned marginally to begin with. Unfortunately it's damn near impossible to avoid Chinese-made electronics, and as you pointed out, there's also the flood of cheap crap you find in dollar stores and such.

Did he manage to say that with a straight face? If so, get this man an Oscar nomination. I suspect neighboring nations that border the South China Sea may well object to that assertion, and that's just for starters. Sheesh.
