Allen West running for governor of Texas
Source: Politico
West told The Texan: Im not running against anybody. Im running for Texas.
A retired Army officer, West was elected to Congress from Florida in 2010 as part of the national Tea Party wave of candidates, but was narrowly defeated for reelection two years later.
A favorite of House conservatives, West drew two votes for speaker (from Louie Gohmert of Texas and Paul Broun of Georgia) over John Boehner in 2013 even though he was no longer a member of the House. West considered challenging Republican Sen. Marco Rubio for reelection in 2016 but ultimately declined to do so.

Please.
Also, feel free to contact the Internal Revenue Service.
I once did, under similar circumstances.
No negative repercussions for me, and a sudden improvement in the behavior of my church and pastor, resulted.

(41,212 posts)I live thousands of miles from Texas, but am aware that GWB was governor there, and it seemed impossible that anyone could be stupider than he was.
I was wrong. Because then they got Rick Perry, and he was much stupider. At least it seemed than no one could be stupider than he was.
And then they got Greg Abbott, and it REALLY seemed that no one could be stupider than he was.
Until you mentioned Allen West!
(Yes, I know that someone from Borisland perhaps shouldn't throw stones!)

(54,087 posts)and so it makes sense that he hops from state to state trying his luck in different elections.
He won't get 5% of the vote among actual Republican primary voters. Texas is like the worst state for Trumpazoic conservatives. Trump nearly cost the Republicans Texas's electoral votes. This is THE ur-suburban state right now, moreso than California or Connecticut. Trumpism hurts the Republican brand here. The smart R's know how to throw a couple of symbolic nudge-winks at the crazy cult and then govern in the interest of large corporations, mega-developers, and the banks.
