CLEVELAND, Ohio Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Monday that he will send 14 Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers to the U.S.-Mexico border to help Texas authorities with border surveillance.
DeWine sent the troopers at the request of fellow Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, according to a statement. The state troopers will be sent to Texas later this week and will stay for two weeks.
DeWine made the announcement three days after he said he would send 185 Ohio National Guard troops to the border later in 2021 at the request of the Biden Administration. DeWine previously sent 115 National Guard troops to help with the operation.
Both the National Guard troops and troopers are being sent to provide non-law enforcement support to the U.S. Custom and Border Protection after requests for help from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, National Guard Bureau and governors from border states.

(24,701 posts)there from these republican fascist supporting states, like I don't know to travel on a infrastructure that was paid with "our" tax dollars like , interstate, they should pay said user fee of lets say 10 million a piece to get from there fascists' supporting state to get to other fascists' racist's supporting state, and since they can sleep eat or drink from said state the MRI's that they will be eating if that is the case, but I doubt this, they should pay 20 million for each meal...I know this ridiculous but Abbott and these other yahoos are just ridiculous in there deflecting racist's tactics....there collective states are falling apart and they send these yahoos to stand around and waste precious's resources that could be used to like repair a bridge that crosses into Kentucky...Brent Spence Bridge, that is "functionally obsolete" but here the fucking pay Peter to rob Paul plan....

(3,256 posts)It's just a another quiet and hot day in El Paso. When they get down here they will be totally useless. The Border Patrol has its own skill set like being highly skilled in tracking in some very rough and hot areas. The local law enforcement knows there area. I suppose they could send them on a snipe hunt, or maybe ship them to "surveillance" in the middle of nowhere. The only places the border is fairly easy to get across is some of the most desolate places on the planet. I think they will spend most of their time in bars and restaurants and pad a lot of overtime. I don't think any of the law enforcement wants the. I know it's that way in El Paso. I'll wager most don't even speak Spanish, which is a requirement for the border patrol and nearly all the locals are fluent in Spanish.

(6,531 posts)is this paragraph:
"Both the National Guard troops and troopers are being sent to provide non-law enforcement support to the U.S. Custom and Border Protection after requests for help from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, National Guard Bureau and governors from border states."
Who in the US Dept of Homeland Security is taking it upon themselves to request troops from different states? Who in the National Guard Bureau is making requests? Don't these fall under Joe's authority? The "non-law enforcement support" I recognize as being part of the necessary restrictions placed by our Federal law in order to get them in there. But, I want to know who in Biden's administration is making these requests? What authority do they have to even begin to make such requests? Are these left over from tRumpy's admin? (which case I hope that Joe and Kamala stamp that out pronto.)
These are games they are playing. I think we have played this game before. And, yeah, they are setting up to make it seem like Joe didn't protect us from caravans of brown-skinned women and children. Do they think we are that damned stupid? Vote them out of office!
