Missouri mayor who required masks faces recall vote

Source: AP

Steele, who was delegated emergency powers by the City Council to deal with the pandemic, enacted the mask ordinance in October. He ended the ordinance on April 30.

The petition said Steele should be recalled for “individually and without regard to the citizens of Nixa, nor the vote of city council, enacting a mask mandate, and taking other actions detrimental to the city of Nixa, its economy and the health and welfare of the community in general.”

Nixa, which has about 21,000 residents, is located about 10 miles south of Springfield, where hospitals are overflowing with COVID-19 patients.

Health officials are blaming low vaccination rates and the delta variant, first identified in India, for the surge. Just 44.8% of the state’s residents have received at least the first dose of the vaccine, compared with 54.9% nationally.

The entire state is 44.8% vaccinated and Nixa's blaming the mayor?

California's population is 40 Million. It is 70% vaccinated and the rethugs want to recall the Governor for saving their sorry pathetic asses.

There are a lot of crazy people among us!

the OP need ventilators

If this doesn't motivate people in Missouri to get vaccinated and wear masks, nothing will

It will be Darwin that will sort things out, at the peril of innocents

If the citizens of Nixa are actually that dumb, I have no sympathy - zero - for them if they get sick and die. I'm not so harsh as to wish it for them, but that point may come. Jesus Herman Christ on a stick, the stupid is strong there.

until they discovered Talibangelicalism. They still aren't rich, but they survive without having to punch a timeclock. Unfortunately, all of their children are all in with it too. My cousins were my childhood best friends ever, now I don't know them, and worse, don't care too. "Faith" took them to Missouri-because Ohio is not bat shit crazy enough. I had an excellent Sunday School teacher as a kid, he taught the kind of Jesus you see in Jimmy Carter. We live in a country that likes the kind of Jesus you see in Reagan and Trump. I am not OK with that. The more people like that who turn people away from self aggrandizing fairy tales, the better this nation and world will be IMHO.

More dead from covid in Kansas in June of 2021 than June 2020. 400+ new cases and three new deaths so far in July. These Trump humping,Qanon, flaming religious idiots here--mainly in western Kansas truly have a death wish and I say let em DIE.

Just 42% of Kansas is fully vaccinated. We fully opened to all ages that can receive the vaccine on April 1st.
