Jeff Bezos awards Jos Andrs $100 million for 'Courage and Civility'

Lauded chef and humanitarian José Andrés picked up another accolade on Tuesday, when he collected a Courage and Civility Award from billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The award isnt just some bookshelf decor: It comes with $100 million that the recipient can distribute to the charities of his choosing. The announcement came at a high-profile moment for Bezos, who also owns The Washington Post. Bezos revealed the new award and gave out the inaugural pair at the conclusion of a news conference following his flight to space aboard a rocket developed by his company, Blue Origin. The other award went to CNN commentator and activist Van Jones.
We need unifiers and not vilifiers, Bezos said before revealing the recipients. People who argue hard and act hard for what they truly believe, but always with civility and never ad hominem attacks. And unfortunately we live in a world where this is too often not the case.

(4,533 posts)The right wing hounded him out of the Obama White House because of his youthful support for communism. He got into the White House because of his heroic organization which created inner city jobs by training people to work in environment saving jobs. Like installing solar panels etc. Good jobs for people having trouble getting good jobs all for a super good cause. And it was extremely successful.

(11,465 posts)Worked for Amazon last two years and after he got written up for peeing in a bottle because bathroom was a 15 min walk and your pay is docked if you are a min late from break, he quit and thankfully this is an employees time found another warehouse job for $19 a hour in Sacramento.
This is a young nice polite kid. He wasn't the rebellious kind not to follow rules. He had no choice. Amazon is stupid. Get more bathrooms!!
