US to require foreign travelers to be vaccinated when restrictions lift
Source: The Hill
The Biden administration is currently developing a plan that would require most international travelers entering the U.S. from all countries to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, a White House official said Wednesday.
The U.S. is keeping international travel restrictions in place for the time being due to the spread of the delta variant and rising domestic cases. The new plan would be operationalized when the U.S. begins to lift restrictions on international travel.
The White House official said that interagency working groups are currently working to develop a plan for "a consistent and safe international travel policy" that would involve a phased approach that would require foreign nationals traveling to the U.S. to be fully vaccinated "with limited exceptions."
"Currently, the interagency working groups are developing a policy and planning process to be prepared for when the time is right to transition to this new system," the official said.

(5,689 posts)My wife tried entering the country to do her green card and they refused her entry. She's fully vaccinated and has a valid visa.
NOPE! Now been separated for over a year. Thanks, CBP.
Consistent and safe? The people at the border have NEXT to no oversight and are literally judge, jury, and executioner without right to appeal. The ones in Nogales threatened to deny me re-entry, and I'm a natural born American.
BTW, you know the law that enabled that, the INA of 1952, was written by two of the biggest nativist racists in the Congress.
One was so racist and anti-Semitic, Nevada named Las Vegas's airport after him.
The other was such a bigot he became the director of the Pioneer Fund.
Their law was vetoed by Truman, but at the height of the xenophobic McCarthyism HUAC and Senate hearings, Truman's veto was over-ridden.
So our immigration policy was written by and sponsored by two flaming bigots.

(6,699 posts)The horror story my wife and I experience 10 years ago was enough to make me sneer at every border patrol Nazi I come in contact with.
Long story...they took my wife, who had her green card at the time, into the office for over two hours and made me wait outside - wouldnt permit me to be WITH MY WIFE! ...while they interrogated her for all that time. Then they came out and gave me the riot act for over an hour to assure our story was the same. Fucking Nazis! I was so pissed off!
We returned to live the next eight years in the US until she became a nationalize US citizen and we spent 50% of the next three years IN the US.
Im sure there must be an exception to my rule...but I have personally had more unpleasant experiences with these thick headed idiots than I have time to print.

(45,442 posts)they only care if you're white. They have detained many brown/black US citizens. Flying isn't much easier when they randomly decide that brown people can't possibly have a real US passport, let alone global entry.

(13,920 posts)Of course.. if we were to make offering the shot to incoming persons, with an appropriate accompanying quarantine period, we might just fix the entire hotels having trouble with business problem as well.
It has its own edge of problems.. but id really like to see the right get all mad about us giving away vaccinations to foreigners, just so they have to then explain exactly why rich, privileged persons are flocking to get those vaccinations.
