COVID-19 is overwhelming Florida funeral homes as the state’s system for dealing with death buckles under a new surge in coronavirus cases. Local station WFLA reports that pre-cremation storage areas for bodies at more than a dozen funeral homes across the state are full, with corpses stacked to the ceiling. Multiple funeral homes declined to speak to the news station, citing a recent crush of work. Those that did said their workload is higher than it was when the nation hit its pandemic peak in January. Mike Marchetti, a manager for Newcomer Funeral Homes in Orlando, said, “The family comes in and they say we would like to have the funeral on Friday and we have to tell them ‘I’m sorry we can’t accommodate a funeral on Friday because our schedule is full.’”

a condo there and generally spends winters there. Couldn't go last Feb., can't go this Feb. She's 81, and the thought of not seeing her again makes me weep. I also had a handful of winter friends from up North and from Canada whom I loved to see during that Florida month -- we all are in that condo complex. I'm missing you all already, ladies.

3. More like mass mausoleums, since the water table prevents burials in most of the state.

Our local funeral home, closed for a couple of years, just got renovated and reopened.

It's terrible but true that in Florida the general public sees that the funeral business is booming.

And their 7 day rolling average is over 21,000.
But the 7 day rolling average of deaths has dropped from 177 per day on 8/12 to only 20 on 8/25.
It's evident the state isn't accurately reporting deaths due to covid.
