Adam Kinzinger, outspoken GOP Trump critic, won't seek reelection for US House seat

Source: CNN

(CNN)Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Republican from Illinois who has been a strong critic of former President Donald Trump, announced in a video Friday morning he is not running for reelection.

"I also remember during that campaign saying that if I ever thought it was time to move on from Congress, I would, and that time is now," Kinzinger said.

Kinzinger is one of two Republican members of the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol Hill riot.

This story is breaking and will be updated.

Unless you are a Full Fledged Cult Member, you're unwelcome in the repub party.

It does not matter whether you hold strong beliefs in conservative principles, you must bow down to Zod, otherwise GTFO.

A few months ago I read that 20-30 were running. If the moderates keep dropping out, it will be higher than that, even.

He’s still doing his work on the Nov 6 panel credibly.

I bet he’s gotten a whole bunch of threats from the wingers. He can’t run as a D because he mostly doesn’t agree with us except the orange sack of garbage tried to take power by armed idiot force.

I hope he takes advantage of it and really gets involved in the select committee. He's in a position now to say some things that need to be said.

he can speak out without the restraints of running for re-election..he's still trying to appease the rancid republicans with his "both sides do it but the Dems are worse" garbage..hopefully that stops now that he's got nothing to lose...

I posted here almost a year ago that he was running for governor. And that announcement will come soon. I have no "inside" info but it is an open secret known by those who closely follow IL politics.

I worry about Pritzker. I love what he has done for our state, but it needs more widespread publicity.

Remember, he lost the fair tax, through sheer, bold-faced lying by the republicans. He could lose the office, too, unless we fight as dirty as they do.

When I watched the other day that former Senator Flake is now an ambassador, I was thinking that Kinzinger should be one, too.
