Senate Democrats strike a deal to cut prescription drug prices in Biden's social spending plan
Source: Business Insider
After previously being considered left on the cutting room floor, a deal to lower prescription drug costs is back in President Joe Biden's Build Back Better framework.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, noting that Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona is on board.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Or perhaps an alert did not go as you wished?

(95,255 posts)That was an afterthought I should probably not have circled back with. I believe the post was gone by the time I posted up on edit. Someone did and the jury spoke. I'm not disappointed with the decision.

(1,096 posts)if the reporting in The Hill is correct.

The deal would allow negotiation after nine years for many drugs, known as small molecule drugs, and after 12 years for more complex drugs known as biologics, according to a summary obtained by The Hill.
Medicare could negotiate up to 10 drugs starting in 2025, and up to 20 drugs in 2028 and beyond, according to the summary.
So no negotiation until after the next presidential election. The timing of that is necessary ... why?
And new drugs will be excluded because of the 9 and 12 year wait period.
sigh.
