Head of RNC says Biden won 2020 election, the first time she's clearly acknowledged his victory
Source: CNN
"Painfully, Joe Biden won the election and it's very painful to watch. He's the President. We know that," McDaniel said at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor in Washington, DC.
While the RNC has for months criticized Biden in press releases and rapid response materials, McDaniel's comments Thursday marked the first time the party chairwoman has clearly stated that Biden "won" the 2020 election.
Her comments also come as former President Donald Trump, who McDaniel said remains an overwhelming influence on the Republican Party, continues to push conspiracy theories about the 2020 election with the help of leaders across the GOP's election apparatus. Earlier this year, the RNC unveiled a "Committee on Election Integrity," and, on Thursday, McDaniel declined to say whether Trump's pressure campaign to convince then-Vice President Mike Pence to block congressional certification of Biden's Electoral College victory was unconstitutional.

(15,286 posts)It's baby steps, but McConnell has kept the door slightly ajar all along for this slow distancing from Trump to occur. First Chiarelli in NJ acknowledged he lost and said their was no fraud and a recount wouldn't change the outcome, then Christie and now McDaniel are pushing the dump Trump door farther open.
There's also Lewandowski who's quoted in Karl's new book that Trump knows he lost and just pushing election fraud to salve his own ego.
Once true believers like Bannon and Meadows see the inside of a jail cell for refusing to honor supoenas, that dam will break and it will be lights out for TFG.

(3,167 posts)I would love it if they push Trump too far, or he sees this as an "insult." What the Republicans fear most is that Trump will turn on them. Didn't he supposedly tell McDaniel that he was through with them and was starting his own party?
Just imagine - Trump turns all his minions loose on those Republicans who are not sufficiently loyal to him. Trump backs absolute crazies for Senate in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, plus he tells his disciples to NOT vote for any "RINO" candidates for the House. Trump really doesn't care if the Republicans retake the House or Senate, so I could see him burning it all down in 2022.
Wouldn't that be delicious??

(1,967 posts)And just as delicious would be Republicans getting their revenge on TFG by withdrawing all support for him and even testifying against him in trials. It would be great if Trump screwing over the Republicans helped damage his own cause as they exact payback on him.
Trump needs to be in jail or even better, drop dead from a stroke or heart attack.
