Ahmaud Arbery defendant asks for plea deal, Arbery attorney says
Source: CBS News
Lawyers for one of the defendants in the trial of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery have asked prosecutors for a plea deal, Arbery family attorney Lee Merritt told CBS News. Merritt said the prosecution "turned it down flat out."
The request came from attorneys for William "Roddie" Bryan the man who admitted to pursuing and boxing in Arbery with his vehicle and filmed the fatal shooting in Brunswick, Georgia last year, Merritt said.
Merritt told CBS News he believes the request means Bryan is "concerned about the strength of the state's case."
Bryan is on trial alongside Travis McMichael, and his father, Gregory McMichael.

(19,863 posts)testified - this Bryan guy and McMicheal (the father) didn't testify.
Listened to judge and lawyers do the jury instructions today.
In my humble opinion, all 3 defendants will be found guilty.

But at this point, it's way too late.

(4 posts)because it will be judged based on the facts by a jury, not by public opinion (which is being fed nonsense by big media), just saying.

(1,954 posts)This case, like Rittenhouse, is clear cut; The perps chased down and killed their victim, hunting him outright. The only thing you might be able to hang on the victim's head was that he wasn't capable of defending himself, but that's not exactly a sin and his killers need to spend a few decades behind bars. The man was no threat and had done no wrong, but these racist vigilantes took his skin color as a crime and executed him for it.

(9,186 posts)would know of the request is if the prosecutor told him, and since it was flat out turned down, what purpose would it serve for the prosecution to be discussing it? The jury isnt going to hear if it, and the judge isnt happy with Roddys attorney already.
