Where is everyone watching the updates on the storm? I'd like to know more about it, but TWC is driving me carzy with their over-the-top drama. It's a horrible storm, and damaging and dangerous. No one disputes that, but TWC is treating it like one of their Made-for-TV movies, and it's not helpful. I swear they're being purposely over-the-top in their reporting, so that they can use it in future shows. I want facts, not "brings the East Coast to its knees" "terrifying" etc. "Frankenstorm"

Where is a NEWS type source that is accurate to watch without the theatrics?

I've seen news coverage before about other disasters that was not hysterical in nature. I want facts and updates, not adjectives. I guess you don't get the point.

This is the site I normally watch. Folks on the east coast are on edge right now and media is doing nothing to help that. I wish they could get through to folks to prepare without the unnecessary hyperbole. Of course, it looks like a monster of a storm so I guess the priority is getting people to move and prepare as opposed to toning it down.

At any rate, here is NHC -

I don't need TWC, which is now an enterainment channel, to get the facts.

If anyone has seen TWC's own dramatic programming and re-enactment pieces, they know what I mean. Any place that has "Storm Week" and themed disaster movies with bad re-enactments, has lost their mission.

in the form of melodramatic re-enactments, hysterical hyperbole, etc. I also believe that part of preparing for this thing to hit not wearing yourself down with fear and negative thoughts.

If the pressure is as low as 940 mb, this isn't good news for NYC,NJ, Connecticut.

That would indicate further strengthening is likely.

anyone think this huricane could be something the repukes could create. i mean, you dont know what all they came up with when they were in office for so many years. i know its far out there but i do not put anything past them. its possible in my opinion they created this storm to mess with the election in new york.

They have created a distributed parallel supercomputer with all the voting machines in a giant network that predicted just where and when Karl Rove had to fart in order to lead to the formation of what has become hurricane Sandy.

A cunning plan indeed, milord.

Welcome to DU and do try to keep up.

MEMA's power outtage map:

http://mema.maryland.gov/current/Pages/PowerOutages.aspx

It looks to be mostly in Baltimore County and Harford County. So far my power (in Frederick County) is still on, knock on wood. I have Potomac Edison, they seem to do better than BG&E (who I had before, with lots of outtages).
