Labor Department: Full Intention To Release Jobs Report Friday

In response to initial reports that the Department of Labor might have to delay release of Friday's monthly employment report because of Hurricane Sandy, DOL spokesman Carl Fillichio sends over the following statement.
"The employees at the Bureau of Labor Statistics are working hard to ensure the timely release of employment data on Friday, November 2. It is our intention that Friday will be business as usual regarding the October Employment Situation Report."
The initial reports briefly fueled speculation that the jobs data, good or bad, wouldn't be revealed until after the election.

(32,025 posts)Gee, the conspiracy-mongering has ratcheted up under Obama. The economy was REALLY bad in the fall of 2008, so were some beltway insiders speculating about the USDOL delaying the jobs numbers til after election day due to concern of unfairly swinging the election for Obama?

BLS day: first friday of the month (usually)
In '08 these fell in the same week. So to answer you question, no, there weren't similar reports about delaying the jobs number in '08.
