Biden Vaccine Mandate for Federal Contractors Blocked Nationwide

The Biden administration’s mandate for federal contractors’ employees to be vaccinated will be halted nationwide, amid a slew of challenges from states that say the president overstepped his authority in requiring the Covid-19 shots.

The mandate, which was set to take effect on Jan. 4, applies to roughly a quarter of the U.S. workforce and affects companies that do business with the federal government, including Lockheed Martin Corp., Microsoft Corp., Alphabet Inc.‘s Google, and General Motors Co.

A federal judge in Georgia blocked the mandate on Tuesday. The latest order follows a Kentucky federal judge’s grant last week of a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit involving Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio.

Numerous challenges to those mandates are pending in appellate courts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has temporarily halted enforcement of the OSHA regulation. The Sixth Circuit is poised to consider the consolidated challenges to the OSHA rule.

Also, so this means RR companies like CSX,Norfolk Southern, etc will not be able to require their employees to be vaccinated???My husband was working for RR when pandemic hit. They were not requiring masks or anything. He had enough years to get partial retirement from them so he quit (already has military retirement). ANYWAY, I’m still in a RR wives group. They were all swearing up and down that their husband would quit (without full retirement when it is their only retirement) so I wanted to see if that was all talk. Now they are all happy that they can continue to spread covid around. 🙄 One could not wait to hop on there to post a Newsmax link.

the point of the mandate was to provide cover for companies who probably wanted to do this anyway. There is no profit in having to shut down production to prevent an outbreak among staff. Outbreaks probably also hit the bottom line in health insurance premiums. It costs employers next to nothing to require vaccines, and likely ensures consistent predictable production.

It is likely that just having it pending in litigation is sufficient cover for most.
