US COVID-19 deaths reach 800,000

Source: The Hill

The U.S. has reached the grim milestone of 800,000 deaths related to COVID-19, Reuters reported.

More than 450,000 people in the United States have died after contracting COVID-19 so far in 2021, according to the news service, which added that the total accounts for 57 percent of all U.S. deaths from the illness since the pandemic started.

The 2021 death toll in the U.S. had already surpassed the 2020 total in November. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that the total number of deaths involving COVID-19 in 2020 was 385,343.

The grim U.S. milestone comes despite the fact that the country has authorized three COVID-19 vaccines and has given booster doses the green light for all adults and for 16- and 17-year-olds.

I'm sure the vast majority of them were the ones who refused to be vaccinated.

More now than ever that the msm is working to pin the difficulty of getting rid of it on Biden.

but can't claim credit for it as someone else coined the phrase. In some respects, I even hate referencing the "45" because it gives some recognition to an illegitimate presidency.

for the people who are afraid of minorities, and afraid of women, and afraid of foreigners, and afraid of gays. Y'know, the subset of white people who only feel safe when they are hugging a semi-automatic rifle.

if it ever ends.

I predict that the 1M mark will be reached by February, boosted by Christmas, New Year, and omicron.

Although omicron is not considered as lethal as delta, the fact that it is more contagious and breaks through vaccines means that vulnerable people like diabetics, cancer patients, and the elderly are likely to get it. For those populations, even mild infections can be fatal.

Omicron is not the dominant strain yet. But the UK says that its numbers double in just two days when it reaches a community so it will soon overtake delta.

UK also reports 79% of omicron cases occurred in fully vaccinated people. Therefore, masks and distancing are absolutely essential, especially around seniors and other vulnerable people.

thousands of people who died "with delta." Surely some of them had diabetes, cancer, or some other disorder to blame for their death.

I've seen this play before. First it was denial about breakthrough infections and denial that masks were still necessary. Then there was the false claim that only unvaccinated people would die from infections.

I believe in tbe value of the vaccines. I am fully vaxxed and boosted. But I can also see the risks.

I am done discussing this. Let the omicron variant speak for itself when it dominates the nation.

I figure those who care are already vaxed and taking precautions. COVID will sort the rest out. The ones I feel worst for are the kids of anti-vax/cultists who are leaving them vulnerable on purpose. It's disturbing and will have long-term if not immediate consequences.

Does she qualify for those?
"The FDA has issued an emergency use authorization for AstraZeneca’s drug which will be sold as Evusheld. The drug is a cocktail of tixagevimab co-packaged with cilgavimab and administered together and is authorized for the pre-exposure prophylaxis of Covid-19 in adults and children 12 and older whose immune systems haven't responded adequately to COVID-19 vaccines or have a history of severe allergic reactions to the shots. The drug is given via an intramuscular injection."
