A fire has destroyed at least two dozen homes in a flooded neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens.

A fire department spokesman says more than 190 firefighters are at the blaze in the Breezy Point section. Two people are so far reported to have suffered minor injuries. The cause of the fire is not known.

Fire officials say the blaze was reported around 11 pm Monday in an area flooded by superstorm Sandy that began sweeping through earlier.

there are so many variables that can happen with flooding and winds, my heart and prayers go out to them. And it's got to be hard on the firefighters, I hope none of them are injured. I hope it's out now.

They can't get the equipment there to put it out. Just saw on the local news. Also a large fire on Rockaway - also Queens.

And it's our own fault it's turning.
unfortunately the rich Republicans that are most to blame won't suffer, just regular people.
As always.

On another note, why is it all our best, most current news of the storm comes out of England?

in a bungalo right on the water. It was the year I graduated high school. Probably the most memorable summer of a young kid's life. Beautiful area. Really great pizza shops, handball courts, nice boardwalk.

Most of those bungalo's are probably destroyed now.
