Ohio Poll: Obama By 3 Points, 50 Percent Support Auto Bailout

Source: TPM

President Obama is maintaining a small but steady lead in Ohio, according to a new poll released Tuesday commissioned by Columbus TV station WCMH and conducted by SurveyUSA. Obama sees 48 percent to Republican candidate Mitt Romney's 45 percent, very similar totals to a number of other Ohio polls released over the last week. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 4.1 percent.

Political independents split toward Romney 48 percent to Obama's 37 percent, but the president leads overall due to the gender gap -- he's ahead with women by 13 points and Romney takes men by 8 percent.

Fifty percent of likely voters support the government financial bailout of the American auto companies, a major issue in the state, while 37 percent opposed that action. Women voters supported it by a 18 point margin, men an 8 point advantage, and independent voters are split evenly at 43 percent. The pro-bailout total is support by 82 percent of Democrats and 16 percent of Republicans, and another 17 percent of Republicans say they are "not sure" whether they support it.

the auto industry is strong in northern, and especially northwest, Ohio (the part that butts up against Michigan). Elsewhere, not so much.

I thought only the establishment Republicans and Democrats supported it. The Tea Party and Left sure don't.

How can you not support a win-win situation? The companies survived, shitloads of people have good jobs that otherwise wouldn't, and the government is making back its investment and then some.

What do the other 50% think their state would be like economically if they'd lost the auto industry a few years ago? Ohio would be a black hole of recession and decay without the auto industry and the millions of high-paying jobs it helps provide.

much higher! It is so sad that Americans are so full of hate that they'd rather vote for a lying, sycophantic fake than for a man who was responsible for turning the economy around.

14. Romney is desperate
Tue Oct 30, 2012, 08:24 PM

Romney is a desperate man. he is telling this Jeep going to china lie and George Voinvinch is on the radio every 4 seconds stumping for Romney. Thier is a billboard just east of downtown cleveland on 1-90 that says

"Obama is for gay marriage and abortion, vote republican"

So basically if your an an arrogant dick then the GOP is the party for you.
IM SO MAD.

Im so disgusing by Romney's tactics these last few days and i hope Ohio voters are too and they are capitalize on misinformed voters to win them the election. Already have people telling me they are voting for romney because of "obamaphone" which has been debunked 48888888 times as it was a Reagen and Bush program

The fact that he is deserpate means WE ARE WINNING...and we can't allow him to keep LYING in order to win. SO GET EVERYONE YOU KNOW OUT TO VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS....CARPOOL YOUR COWORKERS TO THE POOLS....STATE LAW ALLOWS YOU TO TAKE TIME OFF WORK TO VOTE!!!! Get your mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers to the polls. If you work in a union....encourage them to vote REMIND THEM OF SB 5 How Kasich and Romney tried to destroy their job and move it to china. If you live in a college campus get your fellow students to vote, remind them that Romney and the republicans wanted them to pay a high interest rate on their loans and that their moms and dads should "borrow 50,000 dollars if they can for school".
