Rome church condemns swastika-draped casket at funeral

Source: AP

ROME (AP) — The Catholic Church in Rome on Tuesday strongly condemned as “offensive and unacceptable” a funeral procession outside a local church in which the casket was draped in a Nazi flag and mourners gave the fascist salute.

Photos and video of the scene outside St. Lucia church following the Monday funeral service were published by the Italian online news portal Open. They showed around two dozen people gathered outside the church as the swastika-draped casket emerged, shouting “Presente!” with their right arm extended in the fascist salute.

In a statement Tuesday, the Vicariate of Rome strongly condemned the scene and stressed that neither the parish priest, nor the priest who celebrated the funeral, knew what was going to transpire outside after the funeral Mass ended.

It called the swastika-emblazoned Nazi flag “a horrendous symbol irreconcilable with Christianity.”

There's Christianity, and then there is White Christianity, which has been all about subjugating non-Whites since Charlemagne. These bigoted White Christians currently call themselves The Christian Right.

I live in a mostly White area of Phoenix (I know, that's just called "Phoenix". ha-ha). Roughly %90 of the parish's priests are currently African, Asian, or Latino. The White Christians became US Evangelicals.

And all the other WWII Vets.
Who suffered terribly during that War. What they went through and the "Hell on Earth" they lived in to erase that Flag from History.
Only to have it return. I am saddened and Enraged.

Forget the empty PR condemnation. Excommunicate all involved. If it is truly Incongruitous with Christianity.

I read the article indicating the parish priest disassociated himself with what happened. Not enough. This needs further investigation.

Francis is surrounded by conservatives barely withholding themselves from publicly and explicitly breaking ranks with him. This Pope merely used the WORD "gay" to earn this ire that has been the hallmark of his pontificate. They are waiting for him to die so they can again elect an RCC version of a "good ol' boy" like Benedict.

Nonetheless, IMO as a non-Roman clergyman - Francis should publicly excommunicate the participants (if they claim Roman Catholic faith) and discipline/defrock the priest who allowed it to happen in his parish.

The political movement claims to aim for "national reconstruction" by achieving eleven objectives:

• The repeal of abortion law.
• A social policy that encourages population growth and the traditional family.
• Opposition to immigration and the humane repatriation of recent immigrants to Italy.
• The fight against the Mafia, the banning of Freemasonry and all secret societies, together with exit from NATO and removal from the U.S. sphere of influence.
• The fight against usury and writing off of public debt, as well as the abolition of capitalism.
• The restoration of the 1929 agreement between the State and the Church and the defence of national identity.
• The repeal of the Mancino and Scelba laws, which the Forza Nuova believes destroy freedom.
• The formation of guilds for the protection of workers.
• Laws to eliminate seigniorage banking income and for the state to issue currency; complementary currencies for local trade, and the nationalization of the following sectors: health, the central bank, commercial banks and strategic industries
• The "recovery of Christian religiosity" and of "faith in the Catholic Church".[citation needed]

Look at bullet point 6 and the last item. (Also notable are some objectives that the far-left would endorse, like abolishing capitalism...)

Laws to eliminate seigniorage banking income and for the state to issue currency? So you do that, how to cover the loss of revenue with the elimination and how will Italian money have any weight in the world?

This alone would cause a massive depression in Italy. I wonder if Mussolini's idiot granddaughter is part of this nihilistic political party.

I would gently remind any female members of Forza Nuova that the Renaissance was NOT a good time to be woman.

But, there's probably no reasoning with reactionaries.
