January 6 committee subpoenas 5 GOP lawmakers close to Trump, including McCarthy

Washington — The House select committee investigating the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol issued subpoenas Thursday to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and four other House Republicans, a significant escalation in its efforts to obtain information from GOP lawmakers as part of its probe.

In addition to McCarthy, the select committee subpoenaed Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania and Andy Biggs of Arizona for testimony. The demand from the panel is likely to spark a legal fight, as others who have been called to testify before lawmakers, such as former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, have turned to the courts to challenge subpoenas issued by House investigators.

I think we already know they won't comply. Their m.o. is just like their fascist leader - stall and delay and appeal and lie.

That they won't cooperate which makes them appear guilty in the eyes of the public and the DOJ.

It's not like most of the folks who were "in the room" for much of the 4 years haven't already given depositions and evidence. The Comte has the goods on them and if they don't cooperate, it also illustrates how they don't see their own offices as legitimate if they diss their peers. It will taint them much like their votes last night did.

And if, I suspect there either are or plans for the assembly of, Grand Juries take in all that evidence and their response to accountability, they will not come out of this without some serious consequence.

That is, if one is to retain some faith in the Judicial system.

How dare they presume to hassle Republican congressmen. 6 to 3.

I only wish it were mere.

Including witnesses related to the planning and VIP section for the Stop the Steal rally (which would encompass Briggs, Gosar, MTG, Brooks and others), as well as those connected to the fraudulent electors scheme.

Defiance of subpoenas by the sitting reps is nothing that can’t be resolved by a DOJ search warrant down the road…

It's just that there are so many of them all at once.

I wasn't sure about the GJ, I thought I had heard but it's hard to keep up and I need to limit my exposure to the news due to stress. Thanks for clarifying that.

Still waiting on consequences for anyone for defying the committee.

Some will scream be patient.

Meadows should long ago been indicted for this. They can add in other stuff later.

Until any person of substantial money, power, influence, or name is held accountable, why would any of these traitorous bastards comply.

How many Federalist Society members work at DOJ, FBI, Homeland, etc...?

There seem to be a lot of high level aides willing to testify to the committee.

The staffers often know where the bodies are buried, and where the smoking guns lie…

It's so predictable.
