(CNN) -- The Indiana doctor who provided abortion services for a 10-year-old girl who was raped is now being investigated by the state's attorney general, according to a lawyer for the doctor.

A notice from Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita of his inquiry into Dr. Caitlin Bernard arrived Tuesday, attorney Kathleen DeLaney said.

"We are in the process of reviewing this information. It's unclear to us what is the nature of the investigation and what authority he has to investigate Dr. Bernard," DeLaney said.

CNN has reached out to Rokita for comment. The attorney general had previously announced he would investigate Bernard for potential failure to report the abortion and possible violation of patient privacy laws.

CNN's Chuck Johnston and Travis Caldwell contributed to this report.

FFS. She followed the law.

This is nothing more than a dangerous vendetta now, since Rokita’s been made a fool of nationally.

God, I hate Todd Rokita almost as much as I do Trump. I hope he gets his ass handed to him over this.

Or any other red state unless they’re happy to see their patients die when an abortion would save their lives or their future fertility. They will just have higher legal costs to defend themselves from every right-wing religious nut like Rokita second guessing medical decisions and prosecuting just to scare other doctors into obeying state laws that demand saving a tiny cluster of cells rather than a woman’s life.

Neither should any female who cares about not having her education and her life totally interrupted from being forced to have a rapist’s baby think about attending college in a red state where campus rapes are fairly common and rarely prosecuted. If I had a daughter or granddaughter of college age, I would certainly counsel against supporting a college in a red state that drastically curtails women’s rights.

Women will die. Doctors will leave. Professionals and corporations will refuse to do business here. Young adults will leave in droves.

Many rural areas are already going without OB-GYN care as it is, and the proposed legislation may frighten others from getting care.

It’s truly despicable.

They'll make it expensive for low income women or girls to travel to blue states. And then they'll make it a crime to cross a state border.

would be to sue the AG, personally, for libel, slander and harassment when his 'investigation' finds no basis for his false accusations. The only recourse left to enforce personal rights seems to be legal action. That's one reason for the court take over. It's how the Notsees did it in the 1930s, stacked the courts with Notsees.

"In the letter, DeLaney also notes that Rokita has limited authority to investigate complaints against certain professionals, including physicians, and that state law requires him to "maintain the confidentiality of such complaints" unless he intends to prosecute. It states that as of July 13, Bernard's license in Indiana was "active with no disciplinary history."

A county prosecutor in the Indianapolis area, where Bernard works, said in an Associated Press report that he believes he has sole authority to investigate in such circumstances, and that Bernard was being "subjected to intimidation and bullying."'

There's also a fundraiser by other abortion providers that has raised over $365,000 for her.

That the Indiana attorney general is investigating that doctor was widely reported very soon after the abortion itself was reported.
