Biden asks Republicans to shun 'MAGA' in November, vote Democrat

Source: Reuters

By Steve Holland

ROCKVILLE, Md., Aug 25 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden had harsh words to describe Trump-allied Republicans on Thursday, as he held his first political rally in the run-up to November elections, accusing the group of embracing violence and hatred, and saying they edged toward "semi-fascism" at an earlier fund-raising stop.

Biden, kicking off a coast-to-coast tour, is looking to lend his support to Democratic candidates and prevent those Republicans from taking control of Congress by touting the sharp differences between the two major U.S. parties, and calling on independent and Republican voters for help.

“It’s not hyperbole now you need to vote to literally save democracy again,” Biden told an above-capacity crowd of several thousand at a Democratic National Committee event at Richard Montgomery High School in a Maryland suburb of Washington.

"America must choose. You must choose. Whether our country will move forward or backward,” he said.

19. It would have been wise to use the phrase "Party of Lincoln", when asking.

The ones who don't don't want to respond to that notion are mostly lost anyway.

Congressional Democrats need to push the same message.

Hey leaders of the Democratic party, keep those generic, pro-democracy commercials running.

Joe, don't mince words. They are not edging towards any semi-anything. The openly embrace fascism. Politics will get a LOT bloodier if they take over. They will openly target every Democrat and even anyone of their own party who doesn't promote the insanity. No rights for women, LGBTQ, immigrants, people of color. Re-segregated schools. Jim Crow brought back to life. Stripping voting rights. They're already working on forced pregnancy. Debt forgiveness? Ha. They'll bring back workhouses.

They'll do all this and more.

But I have to laugh a little as well because it was written almost exactly the way I would say it myself.

Instead of "Reagan Democrats", we're now possibly looking at "Biden Republicans". I'll never understand Democrats voting for Reagan though I can clearly see republicans voting for Biden and Democratic candidates now.

He picked a group of people we should hate and got the nation behind him. Reagan used welfare queens. Trump used immigrants. Hitler used the Jews.
I was young union worker and it shocked me that people believed reagan. He promised to balance the budget, increase military spending, and cut taxes. America believed him. He tripled our deficit. Anyone can create a great economy when you spend money like that.

That became the credo of the Bush/Cheney administration; people have such short memories.

Yes, it was pretty amazing that so many former FDR Democrats jumped abroad the Reagan train. They were a comfortable middleclass, who apparently forgot what party gave them that prosperity. Now they were more paranoid about the moochers and rabble who threatened their prosperity and security. Little did they realize back then that the party they voted for was the real threat to their well-being and financial future. People are so easily manipulated.

Luckily they saw the light in 2004 after the W’s first term and have been solid liberals ever since. They regret that they were fooled by Ronald Reagan.

some people with all his folksy charm and all-American 'Knute Rockne' persona. He seemed so trustworthy. I wasn't very political back then, but I didn't trust him one bit. However, I know he appealed to my parents' generation and they were the ones who voted religiously.

Glad your parents "saw the light" eventually. Republicans are really good at appearing to be something they aren't.

But at this moment in time, they should consider what's at stake. Heck, if they absolutely can't bring themselves to vote for a Democrat, then at the very least don't vote at all in the races with the most heinous Republicans. Vote in the races where they feel good about the candidate and leave the others blank. Every little bit will help.

...tell it like it is, Joe...

...but hit them a little harder...

...saying "semi-fascism" is like saying "semi-pregnant", it's either fascism or it's not...

...there is no 'edge', it's fascism from fascists...

...nothing democratic about them...
