Former Trump attorney Sidney Powell a no-show for election probe grand jury

Source: WSB-TV

A key figure in the investigation into possible criminal interference in Georgia’s 2020 election did not appear as scheduled to testify before the Fulton County special purpose grand jury.

Sidney Powell, former attorney of former President Donald Trump, was scheduled to testify Thursday morning, but sources tell Channel 2 Action News that there may have been some confusion over the subpoena, and she apparently did not testify.

It is unclear if there will be legal repercussions from her failure to appear.

According to court records, the grand jury wants to ask Powell about her involvement in an incident that happened in South Georgia in January 2021.

What the shit?

Why would there NOT be legal repercussions. She was issued a subpoena.

She should be held in contempt, arrested, and jailed.

Good question. A better question is "why would there be repercussions?"

She is a republican and the last many years have taught them that IOKIYAR.

I imagine if it were voluntary there may be no repurcussions. But she will be getting a piece of paper next time.

failure to appear for jury service, or as a witness before a grand jury, results in instant issuance of a bench warrant by the judge. I have seen it happen more than once. I hope they drag ol' Sidney in, in shackles.

In my world, you don't ignore a subpoena from a Grand Jury. If you do, there are consequences, like having a warrant put out for your arrest, or the loss of your license to practice law.

... if she were in jail, she would not have to remember court dates. They can wake her up and personally escort her to wherever she needs to be for these legal matters. Plus, she can get some "time served" credit!

In most states.

They don't execute the bench warrant immediately in most cases, but it's automatically issued.

The reporting on this is shit.

I wonder if she's the first Trumpster to run for it ..

I do not expect all of them to hang around for their day in court.
A bunch are lawyers.
They'll have a pretty good idea of what is coming.
The Dominion/voting machine lawsuit is financially devastating
A lot of criminal convictions are being racked up with the sentences getting longer as they go up the ladder of responsibility.
