Donald Trump insisted in response to a question during a 2020 presidential debate with Joe Biden that he closed down his bank account in China before his first campaign. But six years of Trump’s tax records released Friday reveal that wasn’t true.

“I had an account open, and I closed it,” Trump said with some irritation to moderator Kristen Welker, NBC White House correspondent, in the final debate of the campaign in October that year. “I closed it before I even ran for president, let alone became president.”

Representative-elect Daniel Goldman (D-N.Y.), who served as the Democrats’ lead counsel in the first impeachment inquiry into Trump, noted that the former president had bank accounts in China until 2018, from 2015 to 2017, according to his tax records.

“Generally, you only have bank accounts in a foreign country if you are doing transactions in that country’s currency. What business was Trump doing in China while he was President?” he asked Friday in a tweet.

Congressional Republicans will know that a former SDNY federal prosecutor and impeachment counsel now sits in their midst.

May Danny (SDNY) Goldman be the 'due process' force that House MAGAts -- and their high school tit-for-tat politics -- have to more soberly reckon with.

May Goldman mock MAGAts' flimsy attempts at "investigation" -- even as they have nothing else to do but follow their donor-masters' orders -- since he has learned from Democrats just how well it can really be done.

May the 118th Republicans beware of Danny Goldman, who can investigate the investigators of the 117th's Democratic investigators.

Being out of SDNY, Goldman could also scare some Republicans straight into seeing that their best long term re-election interests lie with passing good bipartisan legislation that promotes democracy and good economies for their states.

but in 2017 the Chinese govt. booked millions of dollars worth of rooms in the Trump D.C.
Hotel much of which was laundered and wound up in Chinese bank account in Don's name and
in Feb. of 2020 Jared Kushner and Pompeo shipped 18 tons of American PPE (part of the stockpile
that Obama's pandemic plan had set aside) to China because both Kushner and Donny owed
China millions.

Not only was Trump an active Russian asset in 2016 but he owed money to Russia/Russian Mob,
China, and Saudi Arabia.
