Guns belonging to Las Vegas massacre shooter destroyed

Guns belonging to Las Vegas massacre shooter destroyed, property sold with proceeds to be divided among victims’ families

The estate of Stephen Paddock, the gambler who carried out the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, has been sold off by court order and the proceeds will be evenly divided among the loved ones of the victims he killed in Las Vegas in 2017, an attorney for the victims said.

From his hotel room overlooking the Route 91 Harvest Festival, Paddock opened fire, killing dozens of innocent victims and wounding hundreds more.

“This is absolute relief. We wanted to ensure that the families received small token of reparation from Paddock,” Las Vegas attorney Alice Denton told CNN of the final order being granted in court on Thursday, bringing to a close the six-year process of settling debts and selling assets.

it’s a local decision and many depts do indeed auction them off like any other property.

In 2019, an anonymous donor gave $62,500 to cover the estimated value of Paddock’s weapons on the condition they be demolished.

Of the 49 guns Paddock owned, 13 have been retained by the FBI and the rest were destroyed, said Denton, who shepherded the case pro bono.

Keeping the guns out of the community was an important factor for Denton, who estimates that it cost her small firm about $200,000 in fees. “If we saved one life it was worth it,” she said.

That is 36 guns were destroyed, and 13 were kept in evidence by the FBI.

newly manufactured replacements for Paddock's guns and ammunition were in the hands of the public within a short time after his rampage. There is a constant flow of fresh merchandise from the American firearms industry. Will society ever say no more?

Given how many defects and knockoffs are out there nowadays, I wouldn't trust their reliability on the battlefield.

The military has no use for stuff that looks like the guns they need, they need the real thing.

still no motive identified. And no way that "good guys with guns" on the ground would be able to defend against a sniper high up in a window.

But, for whatever reason, someone deemed it was to be left secret. If you look back at these mass shooting events, there are just a handful where they drop from the news. The cynic in me always looks for it to happen, then, I wonder what's the deal when it does. The LV shooting is a prime example.

My guess is someone high up dropped the ball on it somehow.

The recent news that he was pissed at casinos just seems fishy.

But I read an article in a paper in Las Vegas which said that the police said the motive was the shooter's desire to bring more attention to the 2nd amendment and it was a "guns' rights" motive. However, when I looked for that article, and any article after that and I found absolutely nothing, not even the original article. I find that odd.

It seemed like an odd motive to me since the shooter's actions would be a big negative for the very issue he was trying to promote.

And if I remember correctly he dint have much of a social media presence either.
I've heard:
1- Staged to make trump look bad
2- staged to make people want to ban guns
3- more than one shooter
4- why was there NO security footage of him? (there was)
5- he was groomed by the CIA as a sleeper agent to act when given a "mental signal"
6- He was helped; "there's no way to open those windows"

And probably more I've forgotten

the description of a modern day Right Wing Nut Job's fucked up issues with the world. Is he "just another white male" who harbors many ridiculous resentments and loves weapons of war. That seems to be the MO for too many shootings in the past 10 years.

My nephew lost a dear friend in a gun murder in Denver which remains unsolved

My friend lost her oldest son when he was gunned down by Akron, Ohio police several years ago.

It is horrific that all of us will either be gunshot victims, or live our lives sharing the shock and loss, the result on these daily attacks on our freinds, relatives, neighbors, really, any time, anywhere.

"She made changes to her Facebook account's privacy and personal settings at 12:30 a.m., about 2 1/2 hours after the first volley of bullets rained down on people attending a music festival on the Las Vegas strip. The first calls about the shooting rolled in at 10:08 p.m., according to police.

At 2:46 a.m., her account was deleted entirely."

"Danley told investigators they would probably find her fingerprints on bullets because she sometimes helped Paddock load ammunition magazines."
